Until Jerry does not own the Sox, it is all moot.

If it were truly moot, there’d be no point in paying any attention to the team until then, yet here we all are anyway.

We're still here, but I believe that this is the conclusion that many, many Sox fans have come to at this point and that they've stopped paying any attention to the team altogether.

Why does this fucking matter?  Complaining about Tauchman’s speed while he’s giving us a 135 wRC+ for ~$2M is the strangest take I have seen on this board in my 20+ years here.

  • It's a Caulfield thread. It lacks forethought and any semblance of cohesion. Just try to avoid it. I visualize these posts as if they are wrapped in big spools of yellow "Caution" tape.

Yup, either you suck or you are awesome…there is no in between.  What a great message board this place has become.

Look, the point is that Tauchman is a nothing burger because he isn't and cannot stay on the field.  The whole Tauchman/Slater thing was Getz pulling a Getz.  We can run anyone out there to see if they are anything.  We know Tauchman isn't (along with Rojas, Slater, Capra, Noda, et al).  And you pulling out wRC+ is what bothered me most because you based it on 100 PA's.  Wenceel Perez is 75% above league average as a hitter.  Let's get him.

Great port…

And the entire point of playing a vet like Tauchman on what even Getz knew would be a losing team over almost any other young player is for what the vet returns at the deadline.  The opportunity cost of playing old vets is the plate appearances that could have gone to a potential longer-term OF solution than Tauchman.   So hopefully whatever Getz gets in return for guys like Tauchman and Slater will be worth it.
