I'm guessing the upcoming lockout has something to do with this.
Baron
Very interesting. I find it curious that anyone would want to be a free agent going into probably a game missing labor fight next year.

Greg_Walker
Torres and Woodruff are relevant for draft as club would have received comp pick after 1st round pushing Sox 2nd pick backwards. As it stands only Dbacks (Gallen) will get comp pick after 1st. Then Cubs (Tucker) and Astros (Valdez) will get comp picks after 2nd round; all the rest that rejected were luxury tax payers so comp picks after the 4th?
Buehrle>Wood
That's over 20% of all QOs ever accepted.

Lip Man 1
Before this year, only 14 of the 144 players who had received qualifying offers had accepted.

Must have seen clear hints of a dearth of long term offers for those Tier 1B guys not in the Top 10-15 or so. Or they really felt comfortable with their teams, like Woodruff in MIL. Imanaga betting on himself bouncing back and getting a longer term deal eventually. Maybe wanted to stay with Sexy and will attempt to recruit the three big name NPB guys coming over...Imai in particular.
