If the Sox don't add him, next off-season, the Sox would have to chance him being selected. He has all 3 options if the Sox add him to the 40-man. However, with the end of the player contract, the owners may just decide to forego this year's GM meetings and Rule 5 draft. I believe they did that last lockout.
