People aren’t familiar with Drew Thorpe. This is a guy who was a key piece for Juan Soto and the main piece for Dylan Cease. His velocity with the Yankees sat 92 to 94 MPH when we was minor league pitcher of the year and lead the sport in K’s. It dropped with the Padres and stayed suppressed with us.

Can he eventually get some of that back will impact his floor and ceiling? If he’s around 90 to 91, I think he profiles as a back of the rotation guy if the 70 grade command is there. Add a couple ticks and he could be a mid rotation guy. To me, that’s what we need to wait and see. I know the early reports say he’s around the former, but not sure I trust minor league guns and his arm may not be fully there strength wise yet.

It's fascinating how you are so optimistic about complete trash but then pessimistic at the one time the team struck gold. Bonemer has already dropped his k-rate in AA to league average, and he's a very very good athlete. A 55-60 grade runner. Good arm.

He's about 10 months older than Acuna was in AA, but his numbers are right along where Acuna's were. He's actually walking a little more, and striking out at about the same rate.

When does this guy become a for real prospect? He's 23, so it's not like he's old for AA, especially as a catcher.

Think he's already a real prospect. He's almost a full year under the average age there too so definitely not an old guy.
