Agreed. When he is healthy, he is a stud. We ended up letting a bunch of guys go, some still good (Roenick) and some suck (Amonte), but the one veteran we hold onto is never there.

Amonte "sucks"?

Here are his and Roenick's stats so far ( and keep in mind that they play on the same line and on the power play together most of the time ):

 

Amonte 8G, 11A for 19 pts - +6 plus/minus - 9 power play points

Roenick 9G, 13A for 22 pts - +3 plus/minus - 12 power play points

 

While I think JR is a better player than Amonte, mostly because he plays a more physical style, I HARDLY think Amonte sucks.

 

If the SlackHawks had more than TWO decent offensive players ( Eric Blase and Steve Sullivan - Calder will be but is just OK right now ), maybe their entire season wouldn't hinge on the health of their most fragile player.
