9 hours ago9 hr Rays get Peralta, and he wins the deciding game against the Guardians, with a post season record of 3-0 and 0.67 ERA. Whereas the Sox got Castillo instead, with no wins and 8.64 ERA. IF Getz would have swung a trade for Peralta, Sox would be going to the World Series IMO. That is why I don’t support Getz for Executive of the Year.

But, there's no way he would have been as bad as Castillo. The Sox just needed another functioning starter to get past the Guardians.

7 hours ago7 hr "He (Freddy Peralta) said, 'I always feel comfortable pitching out of the stretch,'" Moncada said of Peralta. "So we were like, 'Go with what makes you most comfortable,' and he went back."This simple change for Peralta has clearly helped, as he's turned the corner for the Rays since making this change. But that's not all that the Rays did to fix Peralta."From there, the Rays instituted further modifications," Castillo writes. "They had Peralta move to the third base side of the rubber and widen his stance. They told him to speed up his delivery. They gave him a drill package to incorporate into his preparation to generate more strength from his legs (which led to an additional 2.4 inches of extension and an increase of 2-3 mph with his velo)."All of those changes, from the adjustments on the mound to his changes when he's off of it, have culminated in quite the mid-season turnaround from Peralta.yahoo.com/sports Edited 58 minutes ago58 min by caulfield12

David Stearns also discussed Peralta in his end-of-season press conference, suggesting he had to do a further examination of why the Mets couldn't effectively communicate the desired tweaks to Peralta as the Rays did."So how did he get here? Peralta raised his arm angle to around 36 degrees with the Rays, as opposed to 33 degrees when he was with the Mets earlier in the season. He has also gotten his extension back to about 6.7 feet, while it was just 6.5 feet with the Mets. Last season, Peralta's arm angle was 38.4 degrees and his extension was 6.8 feet pitching for the Milwaukee Brewers. He went 17-6 with a 2.70 ERA with the Brewers in 2025. These adjustments have seen Peralta's velocity rise by 2-3 mph on all of his pitches."Fastball was exceptional and did not look like the Sox had much chance against the velocity," the scout said of Peralta. "(I) felt like he leaned heavily on the changeup over his sweeper. The biggest adjustment down in Tampa Bay in my opinion (for Peralta) is leaning on the changeup."
