December 15, 200322 yr anybody heard anything about whether j nelson will be back in ny in '04 or is available? Well he is a free agent but I have not heard any rumours surrounding him. I think demand for him went down after this year because he had some attitude problems. I still would like him on the Sox.
December 15, 200322 yr Nelson or Rhodes in our bullpen will have an impact. Both are good, though both also carry large salaries.
December 15, 200322 yr Heard the Yanks are hot on Rhodes to be their lefty in their Pen. Haven't heard much bout Nelson though which is a bit suprisin.
December 15, 200322 yr I would love to add Nelson to the pen. Odd that there hasn't been much talk surrounding him if the Yanks hadn't clearly stated their intentions to bring him back.
December 15, 200322 yr We should of had Nelson around the trading deadline last year, but supposedly we balked on signing him as some sort of courtesy to the Yankees (probably for allowing us to get Colon)

Everyday Eddie will be a stud in their ballpark though.

I still would like him on the Sox. Teams might be waiting to see if the Boston fans sitting in the Mass. courtroom send Nelson to the pen for life. Pardon the pen pun... Seriously though I would think Nelson would be a good addition to any bullpen, including ours, if his price is right.
December 16, 200322 yr yeah, his price tag would around 4-5 million and god knows the sox can't even offer arbitration in hopes of signing Carl Everett for 3 million.

If the Sox offered arbitration to Everett, why would he even consider signing for what he did with the Devil Rays? Once the Sox offered arbitration, Everett would have immediately been guaranteed a minimum of $7.32 million for ONE year. The Sox had no choice with Everett, plain and simple.
December 16, 200322 yr Has anyone heard any Jeff Nelson rumors? This guy would be an awesome addition to any pen, and instantly we have 7 inning games with he and Damso at the end of the pen.

If healthy, he was not very impressive last year which is why Quantrill and Gordon were brought in. I'd take him and Art Rhodes though for $4m for the two.
December 17, 200322 yr I think this is the reason why no-one wants him at the moment, New York Daily News Article
