1. Paul Konerko. The Dodgers are looking at going into the season with Robin Ventura as their everyday first baseman. Either that, or some sort of rotation involving Ventura, Paul Lo Duca and Shawn Green at first. Prior to 2003, Konerko's on-base percentage the previous four seasons ranged from .349 to .363, something that might interest new GM Paul DePodesta. With Scott Schoeneweis (7.71 ERA in two spring outings) and Jon Garland (4.76) struggling this spring, Konerko could bring Odalis Perez or Kazuhisa Ishii.

#4 on the list interests me, if only we could add the $3 Mil, I wouldn't mind getting Ramon Ortiz for lower level prospects.

Ramon Ortiz. The Angels' offseason spending spree has them looking to shed salary. It's doubtful they would want to part with Jarrod Washburn since he's the only left-hander on their staff. Ortiz, who has a 54-42 career record, can chew up innings. He will make $3.1 million this season (with a team option for 2005), and teams won't have to give up elite prospects to get him. That's a good recipe for a trade.

$3.1 mil isn't a horrible stretch and could be made up by trading Maggs etc. later on if things don't work out.

. Brian Roberts. The Orioles might wait a little bit longer to see how Jerry Hairston's broken finger heals before dealing Roberts. But Roberts has many valuable attributes, he's young, inexpensive and can lead off. Baltimore could live with Mark McLemore at second base until Hairston is ready. The Orioles are shopping for a starter and are willing to add more salary depending on the pitcher. Add lefty specialist Buddy Groom to the mix, and the Orioles have an attractive package to offer.

Not sure if they'd consider a Rauch or Grilli but it might be worth looking into, he's a grinder. Also, do ya see a possibility here for a 3 way with Anaheim? I do definitely.

I would have said this was very much a possibility if Jerry Hairston Jr. didn't get injured. Looks like Roberts is goin to start the season now, but one of them could be traded sumtime thru the year. Spivey is a more likely possibility though.

Scott Ridge needs to beaten senseless with the wooden bat known as two months ago.

i dont think kenny is going to make any major changes before spring training. i think there pretty happy with what they have in camp right now so i dont see any trades happening for a while.

If Gload can hold his own against Major League pitching:

I'd trade Konerko for Perez / Ishii in a heartbeat, preferably Ishii. Ishii would bring another guy who Shingo can hang out with plus another solid arm. I wouldn't mind a rotation of Buerhle / Loaiza / Garland / Ishii / Show - Rauch - Diaz - Grilli.

Go Sox!

No offense..But i'm so sick and tired of rumored Kornerko/Frank for Perez/Ishi deals. Just forget about it. If it happens it happens. Until then it's not even worth talking about..

Too bad we couldn't sign Colon. I would rather hang onto Kong. I really believe he's going to have a good season with Ozzie.

i'd hold off on any judgements of konerko till a little later in the season. There's no reason to believe he wont bounce back.

I don't agree with the article concerning Garland and Schoenenweis struggling. Garland pitched great ball on Sunday and Shoe is developing his two extra pitches. This is ST for gosh sakes and this article makes it look like we have a pitching staff in shambles. Wright has looked real good too. I would much rather keep Konerko than trade him for Perez or Ishii(whatever his name is). The Sox can win with the team we have and I am as tired as some of the others with this incessant talk about dumping Konerko or Thomas. I also think KW has said it a number of times that we will go with the team we have.

Actually there is about a full year of reasons. It's past a slump. If we are going to do anything this year he needs to regain his form. I have a feeling he will. But if this was a horse race he ain't the chalk

I'd ask for Ventura and Perez and see if they could somehow pull them. I don't think Paulie will be around this year. Gload is impressive and frankly the Sox offense isn't a concern, well not the middle part of the order (The top of the lineup, yes), but the starting rotation is still a huge concern, imo.

I'd also gladly take Ishii.

I should add, Junior Spivey would be an awesome fit on the White Sox. I've thought this for a long time and I think he could be had for someone like Matt Ginter and a lower level prospect.

Or maybe even Rauch for Spivey. Spivey would bring speed and a real threat at the top of the lineup, which to me, along with starting pitching is the biggest void on this club.

And he still won't hit his worth.

If the right offer came up(like, say, if we're lucky, a Konerko for Perez deal), I would take it in a second, and I would hope that KW would too. A Randall Simon could be acquired for next to nothing(except the second coming, also known as Bobby Hill  )
