i love this move. So many of Thomas' home runs last year seemed to have been solo shots. Maybe a move like this will give him more ABs with people on base.

amusing story was I knew I was playing the album too much when the kids were awake when the 1st grade teacher called to tell me that my eldest was singing "I'm a sweet transvestite from Trans sexual Translyvania" at school

 

my (now ex) wife and I used to play the album a lot... our church organist used to bring his dates over and we'd do the Time Warp... oh those were the days... hot patootie bless my soul, I really love my rock and roll..

Wow even I am impressed with Frank this spring. Now if only we could find some guys to get on base in front of of him and Maggs I could get optimistic about this season.

This is move I've been wanting to see happen since we had Robin Ventura. I would have loved to have seen Robin bat #3 with Frank hitting behind him. But as for the current club, I like it too. Having Frank Thomas hit in front of you will cause an increase in the number of DP's you hit into, as it did with Maggs. Knowing Magglio's penchant for hitting hard ground balls, this gives Ozzie the flexibility to have the runner's steal or put on a hit and run with Magglio at the plate. That is something that you couldn't do very often with Frank on base. And as Ozzie pointed out, Magglio can score from 1st on a gapper, where Frank could not. This will increase Frank's RBI opportunities as well. I'm 100% in favor of this move.

If it will make impact, just wait and see it, but the best thing on this is Frank´s attitude. Showing that he will do what is the best for the team.

Yes, and after having read all the other stories on the move it was the worst of the lot to boot.

Anyone think there was a ton of problems between Frank and Jerry Manuel? He never acted like this with Jerry as manager, and as a matter of a fact did a lot of things to undermine JM. Every since Oz has shown up, Frank has been the model teammate, praises his manager, and is even going out of his way to help.

IMO... ... Frank has just been very unhappy the past 2 years. The injury, his father, his personal issues. He's been really withdrawn, very unlike him. From what I have seen... he's in a really good place now. He's had time to adjust to his father's death, things are great in his personal life, he built an awesome house, and he took this winter to work on him, alone. I think Frank's perspective now is a direct result of him "finding himself". FWIW, I don't think Frank had any issues with JM regarding personalities. We all know that he's had huge issues with KW and vice versa. Hopefully KW just keeps staying out of his way as he's been doing.

Well if it is that, Good for Frank. I am glad to see him happy again.

I think this is a most excellent sign of things to come. Hopefully this love fest lasts all year.

Just a thought...Frank was pissed that the club did not exercise their option, so he had to exercise his for a lesser price. He had a talk with Kenny Williams about it. Maybe...jsut maybe Kenny told him he needs to be a better team player and the like. That, cand Ozzie could be a lot of what is behind this. Either way, I love it!

You have to get a kick out of Ozzie Guillen and his exuberance though don't you? "The Kid comes in and says he wants to make this move." Ozzie is what 40 and Frank is 35! Everyone is a kid to our new manager.

 

I think the idea of Frank in the 4th spot bodes well for whoever bats 5th (Carlos Lee?) to get more RBI chances. Maggs get on, Frank gets on, if he doesn't homer and then Lee drives them in. The only negative is Maggs GIDP when the 1st two guys get on, but maybe with more aggressive baserunning that is minimized too.
