ESPN making excuses for the Flubs

Featured Replies

With Mark Prior sidelined and Greg Maddux off to a slow start, the pitching isn't as good as it eventually will be. Offensively, they're in a rut, but chalk that up mostly to cold weather.

This was taken from the latest power rankings on ESPN who have the Flubbs in 6th place despite a mediocre start. Blame anything except for the fact that they blow ass.

BTW- What are we ranked?

BTW- What are we ranked?

15th

Cause it wasn't cold for the other teams too?

15th

 Wow. I guess crushing the Yanks twice in the Bronx means nothing? :huh

Here;s the link

with the results figured through yesterday (the rankings were posted today) -- The TB D-rays were the only team with a winning record ranked below us..

We had a record of 4-3 coming into today, with the all of the wins coming against teams in the top "8"

ESPN gets a big :fyou

Even worse, last week they had the royals at #17, a week later, after going 1-3 vs. us and 3-1 vs. the #27, they move up to #8???

-------------------

The Cubs were also in sole possession of last place in thier division when the rankings came out...

we all know the marlins were ranked #1 all last year so i guess we are screwed

Tigers #10?

COME ON

Offensively, they're in a rut, but chalk that up mostly to cold weather.

Which perfectly explains why we've scored 22 runs within the past 2 days in the same city

Records do not matter when you are figuring out how much power a team posseses.

The power of "X" ey Cheat?

I think we are ranked 15th just because of Billy Koch closing games for us...

The fans have the Cubs 8 and Sox 12. So we move up a little bit there.

Do the guys at ESPN even watch the games or just talk about who they think people like and hope it is right? This is so stupid and it gets worse every year. Hey, I like being the underdogs going under the radar. Bodes well for us and we are playing well. They can put us up in the top when we take the division while "Pena Magic" is sitting at home.

How are both the Tigers and Royals in the top 10? How are the Astros ranked below the Cubs? This whole ranking system sucks ass.

If these guys actually watched the games, they'd have a f***ing clue.

IMO, the best 4 in the majors right now are Marlins in 1st, Angels at 2, Athletics at 3, and White Sox at 4(and the A's and Sox could be flip-flopped). They are playing as well as anyone right now, and really, with a decent job from the pen in game 1, a little luck in game 1 against the Yanks, and a little execution against the Yanks in game 4, the Sox could actually be 9-0 right now. Given, you don't always get the breaks, but this team could legitemately be 8-1 right now, and they could be quite easily as well.
