May 3, 200421 yr JosE6's lefty bat is pretty important to the Sox lineup. It's going to be interesting to see what Oz does to keep all three guys - JosE6, Juan and Willie - involved. Willie's been hitting enough lately to stay in the equation, in my opinion, but he's still the most vulnerable to sit down for a while.
May 3, 200421 yr i dont wanna lose uribe, crede is finally swinging the bat well, and willie is frankly playing a lot better than the past... i dont really see a place for jose's .230 BA... sure he cranks out the HRs, but playing ozzie-ball i dont really think that is so important anymore... by the way i also really like gload and want to see him have a good chunk of playing time.

May 3, 200421 yr If it was up to me I would just put Harris in a rotation with Uribe and Rowand. I know that it is probably detrimental at this point to put Harris in CF again, but I feel much more confident in a lineup where Willie and not Uribe is the leadoff hitter. Uribe has done awesome, and I think if he stays in the right places in the lineup he will continue to do well, not as well but around .300 with some pop. I just prefer a line-up where Harris is leads with Uribe as 2, Jose would go down in the lineup to behind Konerko or Crede and provide some a left handed bat at the bottom of the order. At this point I can not justify sitting Harris for Rowand because: G AB R H 2B 3B HR TB RBI BB SO SB CS BA OBP SLG OPS Harris: 22 77 9 21 6 0 0 27 9 7 15 5 0 .273 .326 .351 .676 Rowand: 19 59 12 14 7 0 2 27 4 4 11 1 0 .237 .286 .458 .743 And of course Valentin: 11 48 10 13 4 1 3 28 8 4 14 0 0 .271 .327 .583 .910 Rowand is under .250 ba, under .300 obp. Harris may not be the best Centerfielder, but he is adequate and will keep intact the Uribe Harris combination that has been propelling us to victories. There is something to be said for : If it aint broke, dont fix it. I would hate to see Harris benched, Uribe and Valentin go into a funk and have us lose 4-5 games this week, then have Harris try to step back in and be cold. SB

The whole idea that Jose makes the Sox a better team because of record is quite ridiculous because many of the things that determine wins or losses are outside of his control. Since losing Jose the Sox have never lost a 1 run game, and have ony lost by 2 runs 2 times. If you think Jose would of contributed for 3 runs on top of what Harris and Uribe already contributed those games, well Jose is not Barry Bonds or Pujols and you just cant think he impacts the game that much. Your theories are based on your own feelings about players, thus why you love Jose, while you always talk down about Harris. :;shrugs:: If I could trade Jose today and have Harris Uribe as my middle infield for the next 3 years, I would do it ina second provided I got some SP or RP help. That being said, Harris in CF is the best option to keep our best players on the field at this moment. Harris, Uribe, and Valentin are all arguably contributing, Rowand needs to get his act together, hes not fast, hes not that great defensively, and hes not hitting that well. What is he contributing? Hey, you and others made the contention that the team is "on the roll" without Valentin in the line-up. Simply not true. Not only is the record much worse, they're barely handling TB/Cle at home -- which is where Jose has usually shined as a member of the White Sox over the years. Don't shoot the messanger and all that.

Harris is a proud owner of 255 career OBP and an even worse slugging. And most of that came in the pressure free-September call-ups -- and most of THAT came against RHP because Sox didn't even bother playing him against lefties....And as a REGULAR, he'll have to see lefties pretty often. And did you see his hits lately? Mishandled comebackers to the pitcher, bunt and a couple of bloopers on 1-2 count. When was the last time he SMOKED the ball?
