Wise Master Buehrle
Rotoworld now reporting right triceps tightness. Also say Rusch is the one who would fill in for Wood, most likely. ANd he got bombed tonight.

redandwhite
The Chicago Cubs, picking up the Red Sox trash since 1998.
Chisoxfn
I like wood a lot. A few people at the game tonight said they heard on the radio that it was stiffness in his tricep, but who knows. All I know is I wanted to see Wood pitch, not Glendon freaking Rush.
The Critic
Wood is definately a likeable guy, i wouldnt wish any kind of hurt against him. I liked his lil bit on EPSN 1000 about crappin in your hat to cure your head pains as opposed to pissin on your hands to make them harder. I didn't hear that - that's very funny. Wood seems like a good guy, and is definitely the kind of hard-nosed guy I'd like on the Sox. He accepts responsibility when he f***s up, and doesn't blame goats or fans. I can't bring myself to hope for an extended absence for him, no matter how much it would destroy the Cubbie Cult. It's reported that he had tightness in his right tricep, and the removal from last night's game was precautionary.
YASNY
Wasn't Prior's first missed ST start "precautionary"?
The Critic
Wasn't Prior's first missed ST start "precautionary"? Good point. It would be very interesting to see how the Cult would react to 3 weeks without both Prior and Wood. I think it would become EVEN MORE tense around the DC and therefore even more dangerous for passersby...
southsider2k5
Wow. Could the sky be falling on the Northside? Stay tuned. Hopefully it isn't serious.
NUKE_CLEVELAND
Wow. Could the sky be falling on the Northside? Stay tuned. Hopefully it isn't serious. You know what? There aren't enough hammers that can drop on Flubdom as far as I'm concerned. These people have their heads in space and they are SOOOOO overdue for a fall. I wont be satisfied unless they finish 20 games under 500 like I predicted.
SoxFan562004
I never want to see an athlete have a career ending injury (Well, maybe like a Bill Laimbeer (SP?), even if it is the Flubs... I think it would be funnier if they lost the division with everyone healthy (The way the Astros are rolling that would be a good possibility)
CSF
Wood was supposed to throw a simulated game tonight, but had to shut it down after 8 pitches. He'll be further evaluated tomorrow. They better hope Glendon Rusch can duplicate performances like the one he had yesterday.
SoxAce
The injury could be more "serious" than expected. I don't want Wood's Tricep to be a tear, but I hope he'll be out for a little bit so the Cubs can fall to 3rd place.
BrandoFan
Considering Cards, Reds, Dodgers, Padres and Marlins are pretenders and not contenders IMO, and seeing as Houston flat-out refuses to take advantage of Cubs misfortune by building a sizeable lead.....There are 3 things that may stop the Cubs juggerrnaut: 1. Wood is seriously hurt 2. Prior's achilles inflames throughout the season and he goes on another DL 3. Sosa's back can't heal, so he goes to and fro DL's. They just win. With Michael "Brook Fordyce" Barret. With Mitre. With Rusch. With Maddux. With Borowski. With Martinez. With Hollandworth. With Patterson. With Goodwin and Macias. :puke

danman31
The Marlins are pretenders? Wow. They win the WS and get no respect. That's sad.
BrandoFan
The Marlins are pretenders? Wow. They win the WS and get no respect. That's sad. Unless AJ Burnett comes in Dontel Willis style....and Marlins get a big bat at the Break to help replace Ivan and Lee......I don't see them winning 92-95 games, which is what Cubs are gonna win if they get healthy and/or Hendry makes trades. Cubs have a Minnesota factor. They just win, against all odds. Astros once again play like they don't want it. Unless Sosa and Wood are shelved for good, I don't see how they could be beat over 162 games by anybody in NL, including the Phillies. I really hope I am wrong, but I doubt it.
