Has anyone heard of the thugs threatening to beat up the usher? Maybe they are intimidated themselves.

I really feel bad for you Cheat. That really is ridicoulous, that nothing was done about it.

This whole conversation disturbs me. I  have no idea what is happening at ballgames anymore. I am sorry this happened to cheat.I know this is not a popular thought, but it seems as if many of these altercations come on half price night. Although good for many on this board, getting into the park for $9 bucks or whatever tends to draw scumbags. s*** i see 20 year olds going through the trash for an empty can of pop cause there to cheap to buy a can. I am all for people getting a good price, but the CELL has a rep and there are people who will come just to cause trouble, especially knowing nobody goes to jail. Sell cheap ticekts get cheap patrons. Sorry guys. I realize this is unpopular with many. I bet this won't happen in the playoffs. They could not afford to get in.

Unpopular with some, perhaps.

100% correct though.

your definitely not the first to notice.  These 1/2 price nights, bring in some "not-so-high quality" people.  I remember last august, that 1/2 price night against KC.  I was sitting in the UD and there were more fights that night than I've ever seen.

That game was awful. I was in right field behind the bullpen bar and kept looking up to the fight field corner of the UD and saw that. We had a friend from Germany with us and she was like "Is that normal?" in her accent. It suprised us because she hadn't even heard of that stuff at German soccer games.

Yanking the half-price nights is not the right solution IMO.  Putting more ushers and more security on for those nights, as well as hiring ushers willing to do their friggin' jobs.  Those guys should not have been let into that seating section if they did not have tickets, it's that simple.  Doing that one little thing keeps the "UD lowlife" out of the 100 level seating areas, and keeps all UD patrons from again being unfafairly singled out for retribution via park policy.

I know yanking half priced nights would be highly unpopular, but it seems that everytime one comes up and with nice weather, you get these lowlife idiots with their "Cub-fan" like mentality. If there has to be a HP night, then make it a one beer limit. I know it's unfair to those that can hold their booze and actually want to *gasp* watch the game, but not doing it will continue to bring the sludge out there with these intentions. I'm tired of this team getting reamed in the media. It gives all Sox fans a bad name and gives needless fodder to the media outlets that report this s*** with glee.

When me and my younger bro were sitting in the bleachers last night, I actually said, "It's only like this on 1/2 price nights, no more of these for me."

I hope u are feelin betta now Cheat, I don't think any1 can condone what those idiotic frat boys did, things like this certainly make ppl wary of goin to games like this.

You need to write a letter to Reinsdork and copy it to

KW and all the major newspapers.

The ballpark should be a safe haven, case closed.

Reinsdork will want to know this is going on.

Hell. That would be a front page story for the Trib.

Found this article from the Southtown,

White Sox officials and Chicago police said there were several fights among spectators at U.S. Cellular Field during Tuesday night's game against Baltimore, and two arrests were made for disorderly conduct.

Several people were taken into custody by ballpark security. No serious injuries were reported.

Additional security officers — all off-duty Chicago police officers — were called in for Tuesday night's game, which drew about 9,000 walk-up ticket buyers.

Sox spokesman Scott Riefert said warm-weather Tuesday night games have attracted rather raucous crowds for the past two springs. Fans can purchase tickets at half price if they bring an empty Pepsi product to the box office on Tuesday nights.

Sox officials are considering further measures to prevent future incidents.

"It seems the first warm Tuesday is a wild night," Riefert said. "It's definitely something we don't want here and we'll continue to make adjustments (to security)."

Brilliant logic. Save $5 on a ticket, spend $50 on beer :headshake
