May 27, 200421 yr I was listening to Q101 tonight & they were saying that MTV is making a new channel that is taylored specifically toward Gays, Lesbians, Transsexuals etc...etc... If this is so then does it mean that they are finally gonna take TRL & Real World off of the main MTV channel?

MTV apparently has GROSSLY overestimated their gay,lesbian viewing audience. I give it 5 months.......at that point MTV executives will admit their mistake and pull it.

NO MTV has grossly overestimated Cable companies -- There's no way that cable companies are going to be jumping at the opportunity to add this channel to thier line-up

While Real World seems to have gotten a lt less "real" over the years, it is still not bad viewing on the weekends when they play the marathons. Especially when nothing else is on.
May 27, 200421 yr My guess is they are trying to compete with Bravo, who seemingly is doing well. There is also a couple reality TV shows with gay and lesbian dating. There is enough programming to support a channel. I wonder if there is enough advertisers. I was hoping MTV would start a channel that plays music videos. There was one back in the late 1970s early 1980s that was really cool. It had VJs and played 24 hour music videos.

Especially when nothing else is on. I think the last really good "Real World" was the one they did in Boston a few years ago. Since then it's been all about queers. They keep pounding on the f***** / lesbo theme & thats really annoying. I can deal with it a little bit but when you hear about it every 5 minutes it gets old really fast.
