Report: Most children who drown are supervised

(CNN) -- As 30 revelers enjoyed a pool party, 7-year-old Paolo Ayala sank to his death. At least two hours passed before anyone noticed his absence, and a cloudy pool meant two days would elapse before anyone would see his body at the bottom of the pool.

Most children who drown can't swim.

Most children who drown can't swim.

How ironic. ;) :headshake

I guess you've never heard of Kids Alive do the Five.

Most children who drown can't swim.

Most children that fall out of windows can't fly either. :huh

Sorry.

Most children who drown can't swim.

I can't swim either, I don't think I've drowned yet...

How can two hours pass before a parent notices their 7 yr old is missing?! :o

I really wonder how you couldn't swim...its so incredibly easy...get in the water and do some breast stroke motions...then the flutter kick...

well I think to learn to swim you have to be familiar with being in water. Someone who can not swim is not familiar with water, so when they fall in they probably go into a state of panic and can not coordinate their motions.

I still don't know how to swim myself.

I stay out of the deepend...

Ditto.

I am not sure I will ever be able to learn (Brian keeps promising to teach me) because of my fear of water - I almost drowned when I was 6 1/2.
