June 5, 200421 yr One of my friends (a Cubs fan) was saying the Cubs were talking to Seattle about Ichiro for Patterson and Farnsworth/Mitre. Any truth to this?
June 5, 200421 yr I have also heard that trade rumor but i cannot see the mariners letting him go no matter how bad they are doing this year.
June 5, 200421 yr Author I have also heard that trade rumor but i cannot see the mariners letting him go no matter how bad they are doing this year. Yeah, I know, especially for that cheap. I could see if it was something like Ichiro, Aurillia, and a minor leaguer for Patterson, Mitre, Zambrano, and a PTBNL.
June 5, 200421 yr That would friggin' kill me. Ichiro is easily one of my favorite players, and whereas it would be nice to see him play whenever I wanted, I would still hate to see him on that side of town. BUT, if the Cubs getting Ichiro means them booting Sosa to the curb, then I am all for it! I could go for no more Sosa news!!! :sosasucks
June 5, 200421 yr I think it's another Cubbie dream trade. Kind of like last year, "Let's trade Bobby Hill for Mike Lowell!"
June 5, 200421 yr There's no way Seattle trades Ichiro. No way. Period. Yep -- Trading Ichiro, to the Seattle fans, would be worse than the "white Flag trade" was to white sox fans. This is all jut a bunch of cubbie garbage. corey Patterson is recieving more venom on the northside than Billy Koch and Danny wright combined on the southside. They don't like him cuz he strikes out too much. Funny it never dampened thier spirits to watch Sam-me get shackled with the Golden Sombrero.
June 5, 200421 yr Well at least Sammy would come back the next day and hit a 3 run HR, whereas Patterson will get one hit if he's real lucky that day.

Ichiro means so much more to the M's than just his numbers. Without him, they wouldn't hav been able to sign Hasegawa and the closer Suzuki I think who left this season. Plus I guarantee attendance would drop by at least 10% prob. more.
