June 12, 200421 yr I'd take either of these guys (talking about Contreras or Ortiz), as long as we don't give up a lot. Both of these guys are trying to be dumped (Well, that's what I'm taking out of it, I could be wrong though.). If we don't give up a lot and they eat a lot of the salary, then I'll do it. Not for Jose though...
June 12, 200421 yr I could see it if we put Uribe at SS, Harris at 2B, and go out and get a top CF, ie Finley. It would make more sense then. I wouldn't be opposed to it. Remember Schoeneweis had been taken out of their rotation and put in the pen, and look at him for us now. If I were the Sox, I would throw in a minor leaguer and try to get Alfredo Amezaga too.
June 13, 200421 yr Just to point something out: Jose has: 11 HR's (1st among SS in AL) .883 OPS (2rd among SS in AL) .390 SecA (1st among SS in AL) 23 XBH (3rd among SS in AL) I think he's worth more than Ortiz.

My thinking is if Bill Stoneman turned down this offer, he would be a moron, therefor I don't believe that the Sox made this deal. I think the Angels probably proposed it just to see the reaction. If the Angels gave the Sox Eckstein or Kennedy in return, then that be another story.
June 13, 200421 yr I doubt that Ozzie or Kenny would allow Jose be traded. It is a team chemistry issue more than anything. The Sox most likely will add without subtracting off of the MLB roster. Just like last year.

June 13, 200421 yr It would take incredible balls to trade a strater when you are in first place, even though I expect Jose's production to fall off as the season wears on. I don't see why the Angels would make the trade either.
