June 29, 200421 yr 4. San Diego Padres -- Productive outfielder. So far, Ryan Klesko has one home run, and with some good hitters at the top of the Padres' order, there are many RBI chances for those in the No. 5 and No. 6 slots in the order. Magglio Ordonez would be a good fit; Steve Finley, the ex-Padre and current Diamondback, would be perfect. Just saw this on ESPN.com...Buster Olney is writing about needs for various teams and he's got the Padres needing a productive outfielder and suggested Maggs. Not a rumor, but is there anyone on the Pads that would be worth a trade? Nady/Eaton?
June 29, 200421 yr If they wanna trade Peavy as part of the deal and we are for sure we can't re-sign Maggs, I am all for listening to offers from SD.
June 29, 200421 yr Khalil Greene would be a dream come true. I doubt we would trade for Nady with all of our depth in the minors in the OF. I'll bet we could also get Matt Bush right now as a PTBNL
June 29, 200421 yr Author I just hope they don't start the Jay Payton crap again!!! :puke I'd take Peavy and Giles and a PTBNL.
June 29, 200421 yr Giles is still signed thru 2007 at a much lower cost than Maggs. Any trade has to include Giles.
June 29, 200421 yr Khalil Greene would be a dream come true. I doubt we would trade for Nady with all of our depth in the minors in the OF. I'll bet we could also get Matt Bush right now as a PTBNL Can't trade Matt Bush for at least a year. MLB rules.
June 29, 200421 yr People who mention Giles: :headshake It says in the excerpt that a slugger is one of their key needs right now. They need someone IN ADDITION to Giles. Very obvious. What in the hell is going on around here......
June 29, 200421 yr Can't trade Matt Bush for at least a year. MLB rules. That is why I mention him as a PTBNL. You make the agreement now that he is the guy in the trade, then once his year is up you announce he is the player to go over to the Sox. It is a pretty routine thing.

It is a pretty routine thing. Gotcha. That's fine, but I doubt it would happen, and I surely wouldn't want it to be the main aspect of the deal.
June 29, 200421 yr Gotcha. That's fine, but I doubt it would happen, and I surely wouldn't want it to be the main aspect of the deal. Yeah, I definately don't want it to be the focal point either. I just like the middle inflielders they have in their minor league system.
June 29, 200421 yr Trading with San Diego does make sense. The only way I would do it though is for Jake Peavy. That guy is a stud and his latest mound sessions, he is said to be feeling "outstanding" thats a good sign. Mybe put Nady in the deal as well. Even Trevor Hoffman.
June 29, 200421 yr By looking at Peavy numbers he is destined to be a stud and mabey if the Padres can throw in a left handed batter mabey we could do business

Trading Peavy and Hoffman.....that's not what a potential division winner is looking to do.
June 29, 200421 yr This thread can be locked for all i care. You aren't getting Giles OR Peavy from San Diego if they are making a run. Take out Giles, insert Maggs? What sense does that make? That's barely adding
June 29, 200421 yr Khalil Greene would be a dream come true. He can't carry Uribe's jock. Defensively OR offensively or on the pads.
June 29, 200421 yr He can't carry Uribe's jock. Defensively OR offensively or on the pads. I wouldn't be so sure about that, he's pretty damn good on D.
June 29, 200421 yr I wouldn't be so sure about that, he's pretty damn good on D. Average range, average arm and below-average sure-handedness......This guy is an athlete but there is more to playing the position that agility. Bobby Crosby is the living proof of it as well. That foul pop-up by Sosa in particular was a doozy. With 2 outs Greene ran under it and just fell asleep, droping it (no error). Sosa used the new life to smack a 2-run homer and Cubs blew the game wide open.
