reminding me of 2000

I remember watching the guys in 2000 and watching them win and take the american league central

Are they reminding u of them too?

Their offense is not consistent enough day in day out.

2000 or 2004 version?

I'll say the 2004 offense is better.

The 2000 team had number guys, the 2004 team is pure balance. Our 'best' hitter is sidelined, but the offense has seemingly picked up the pace in his abscense. Would the 2000 team have been as good if the best hitter from that year went down? Not likely.

If you look at the numbers on this 2004 team, there is no 2000 Frank Thomas leading the way. Everyone is getting their job done, and everyone is getting the big hit when needed. The 2000 team was inexperienced and leaned on Maggs and Frank a bit more than they do now. The core has experience, and the core knows what s*** needs to get done.

Imagine the line-up when Magglio gets back. Bronx who? How about those South Side Hitmen?

But they might also face a tougher pitcher that next day, or more stranded runners for a hitter. I've only seen some occasions on how we were just dominated in only getting a run. Right now we are scoring about 7+ runs a game which I'd say is very consistant. We still dont have Maggs back which will also help our offense. We are consistant. ;)

It just seemed like it did not matter what pitcher they were up against you knew that they were gonna get a big inning off them. I do not have that faith when they are against prior, vasquez, beckett, etc.

We didn't have a problem with Zambrano, Radke, Halladay (even though he's having a crappy year) now did we?

It mattered, it's just things weren't so tense when the ball game got down into the Sox pen. 2000 had a pretty solid pen. 2004 on the other hand...

I don't think radke is as good as he is cracked up to be. But others that i was thinking of are brown, pavano , and burnett.

Plus, the Sox have been without their best offensive player for about 40% of the season.

Radke has always pitched good again us. He has good stuff and has great success against the sox for years. We have a great offense than 2000 and a better pitching staff even though 2000's bullpen is better.

As of right now this team is maybe a half step away from being equal to the 2000 team. The season is young though and I'd much rather see the Sox peak in Sept or Oct this season than in April and May like they did in 2000.

Actually I think we peaked in June that year

And I don't want to be reminded of the 2000 White Sox as much as I loved that team. This is a really different team. I am hoping that I am building the memories of the always to be remembered 2004 team.

Off hand I think we have 7 players on the 25 player roster still that played for us in 2000: Frank, Mags, CLee, Jose, MB, PK, Jon G. Is there anyone I am missing? That is actually a high percentage of carry over for a 4 year span.

It won't feel like 2000 to me until we officially clinch the al central.

This road trip feel alot like 2000 to me when we swept Cleveland and the Yankees.

This team doesn't remind me of 2000 at all. This team is far superior to the 2000 team. It almost seemed as if everything just fell into place and it was a magical season in 2000. In 2004 we are a very good team and only getting better. Look at that staff in 2000... Eldred, Sirotka, Parque, Baldwin... nasty compared to this staff.

Yeah, that's it that's still on the team. Unless Cal Eldridge is in our system still somewhere...

But I think this year's starters are a lot more solid than they were in 2000. Back then we had 4 guys pitching out of their minds in Baldwin, Eldridge, Sirotka, and Parque. This year, we have 3 pretty established starters, guys that barring injury shouldn't break down.

Also, our offense has felt less "flukey" this year. We really got a lot of great breaks in 2000, and that was a team that never seemed to have to deal with adversity throughout the seaon. This team has dealt a lot more with adversity and I think the character and resolve of this team is much stronger than it was in 2000.

damn, that is an excellent analysis!

Thanks chief!

THEYRE LIKE THEM IN THE FAC THAT THAT THEY SCORE A TON OF RUNS BUT THE "COMEBACK KIDS" AS THEY CALLED THEM DID NOTHING BUT RALLY. ID SAY 2000 WAS A LITTLE MORE EXCITING

2004, they will score 18 one day the 1 or 2 the next.

so far i have to go with the '00 offense...remember the 2nd half the only healthy pitcher we had was sirotka..baldwin and eldred we on the DL..parque was ineffective most of the 2nd half and we never did find a 5th starter...sean lowe was our number 2 starter for awhile and he hadnt started since he was in the cardinals minor league system

despite that the offense still found a way to score enough runs to finish the 2nd half 3 games over .500 and never really let cleveland make a serious challenge

that offense stepped up bigtime when called upon...this offense hasnt been tested like that yet..and i pray to God they never are
