July 7, 200421 yr I AM HOLDING YOU TO THIS. Wow - that's pretty sweet. If we could get Maggs and Garcia signed on back-to-back days...
July 7, 200421 yr I may eat my own s*** if we can actually sign Maggs. Let me tape you so we can make a sequel to Jackass. Did anyone see that movie? The guy made a piss snow cone and ate it. Absolutely disgusting!

July 7, 200421 yr This is good news at the very least. I wonder if the holdup is years, if its the deferred money or if Maggs wants that 14 mill a year to sign before testing FA.
July 7, 200421 yr Before this thread turns completely useless, what do you guys think changed about this supposedly new offer. Years? Money per? Less 'backloaded'? This is really interesting if true
July 7, 200421 yr I think we got some "spin" to diffuse Maggs comments yesterday. I hope I'm wrong.. but I don't think there's anything new.
July 7, 200421 yr I don't think deferred $$ was the issue. That is what Bruce Levine reported yesterday. He said the holdup was deferred money in the last year, either 5, 10, or 15 years down the road at either 1 or 2 percent intrest AND/OR not enough up front money. Sounds more like an agent issue to me than a player issue, but that is just silly speculation on my part.
July 7, 200421 yr Gotta be the deferred money. The actual dollar amounts he is looking for are pretty much set, so I doubt that changed much. It's gotta be how much he makes in that last year and the deferred money. It could be that the Sox are trying to force some kind of diminished skills clause, but I would have thought they would have shot that down immediately. I really want to see Maggs back in a Sox jersey, so I hope this works out. I think Maggs might eventually realize that this DL stint is going to hurt his marketability a little and just take the money while he knows it is there, once he gets a contract in his desired range with reasonable deferrred money.
July 7, 200421 yr Or it could be a team option vs a player option for the 5th year, or something of the like.
July 7, 200421 yr I am tired of hearing about Maggs, when he wants to re-sign, make a post about that, until then, I am tired of hearing about his demands and what he wants in his deal...In fact I could give a s*** less anymore, to me he is now a primadonna by his willingness to publicly discuss the deal while KW is not talking about it at all. How about playing in a game again this year before signing off our future to suit your demands of 70 million.

July 7, 200421 yr NO Maggs, no central title It's that easy. That depends if we trade him...If we got the right player in return, we can still win the division...You speak as if he has won so many divisions for us, last I checked he hasn't won anything except a 2000 division title and was then swept in the playoffs. He is treated like god around here at times and while he is a great player, he is not one of the top 20 players in baseball. And the fact that it seems like we are dealing with a Scott Boras client here makes it even more annoying with each passing day that we have to discuss his "deal," which isn't going to happen.

July 7, 200421 yr Its some what concerning when you see a guy like Garcia who had only played 1 game with the Sox so willing to sign a "fair" deal, where as Maggs who has only played for the White Sox wants to "test" free agency. There comes a time when you just have to cut your losses, the signing of Garcia showed that the Sox are willing to agree to contracts if the players are willing to be reasonable. Garcia could of perhaps gotten more in free agency, but he just wanted security. Maggs is starting to tread on thin ice, he needs to start thinking about what type of player he wants to be seen as.
