July 16, 200421 yr Daniel Haigwood Named SAL Pitcher of the Week By Jason Gage July 16, 2004 FutureSox.com Kannapolis Intimidators' left hander Daniel Haigwood was named BC Powder Pitcher of the Week for the South Atlantic League. The award is for the week of July 9th through July 15th. Haigwood went 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA during that time period. In his first outing, Haigwood went into the eighth inning with a no hitter, before losing it. He struck out six in the outing, while walking four in a 2-1 victory over Lake County. In his second outing of the week, Haigwood went six innings giving up 4 hits and two earned runs while striking out seven in a 8-3 Kannapolis win over Delmarva. Overall on the week Haigwood went 13 innings giving up just 5 hits and 3 runs while striking out 13. He held opponents to a .116 batting average. Haigwood is 8-4 with a 4.63 ERA in 17 starts for the Intimidators. He has given up 72 hits while striking out a team high (now that McCarthy is in Winston Salem) in 91.1 innings of work. Haigwood didn't pitch last season because of a torn ACL.
