i been thinking this over for the last week or so, with hou still undecided about whether they are going to make the playoff or not.

 

i don't know about getting clemens but has anyone thought of Andy Pettitte???

I still think that Wilson Alverez could be a solid 5th starter and he'd give us a lefty in the rotation.

As long as he doesn't have any bad blood with Ozzie then I can't see it being that bad of a move.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Houston do some melting down, guys like Lidge and Stone could be attainable. Any of the relievers from places like MTL, KC, PIT, TOR, BAL, SEA, COL could be available.

Is Lidge a fa after this year? I'd absolutely love to have him. Can you imagine lidge, damaso, shingo to a close a game out, we'd be able to play 6 inning games, that would be nasty.

He has only been in the league for two years, so he will not be a free agent next year.

I wouldn't want Pettitte with the injury problems he has had this year.

 

I have a hard time believing the Astros would trade Lidge.

Not a chance Lidge gets traded. He's kicking serious ass in is making less than $500 grand. Pettite is doubtful also, he's had a couple of DL stints this year and is locked up for a long time for a lot of money. There really aren't a whole lot of pitchers out there, that's why we jumped on Garcia. Benson is the only decent starter that will definitely be there, we aren't even sure Johnson will be.

Until the Astros are totally out of the wild card race, they won't be selling.

For those not as level headed as Dan, remember the 'stros gave up Wagner and Dotel because they wanted to get a younger, cheaper closer and Lidge is a stud.

That's why I asked if he was a free agent. Because if he's not then they won't deal him.

Benson is a guy I'd take a gamble on, but not this year. I think he'd be signable from the FA market relatively cheap. He's got the ability to be a 20 game winner if he can stay healthy.

Hopefully the next move will be a bullpen arm to send "Thriller" out to pasture. He is done.
