OSUBUCKS2
in all my years of wacthing baseball, that was the worst base running i have ever seen. what the f*** is going through gloads mind? if he read it off the bat, thats an easy triple for rowand. it makes me wonder why borchard isnt in the lineup. if you call up your top prospect, f***in play him gload once again blows an inning
The Critic
Three thoughts: 1 That ball was damn near caught 2 I wonder if Cora sent him or if Gload was looking behind him to see the play 3 Hell of a throw by the RF Gload has made some bonehead plays, but on that ball he has to make sure it hits the ground before he can go. What happened? Gameday says Gload singled and then Rowand doubled and Gload was out at second, Huh?

Exactly that was one hell of a throw
OSUBUCKS2
i understand where you are coming from, however, if gload is halfway to second, hes at third standing up. there is no sense in taggin up on that. ill take my chances hoping it falls and we have second and third nobody out

Even if Higgenson catches that ball and Burke tags, he has a good chance of throwing him out at second, because Higgs didn't go into his slide until the last second. Gload should have gone halfway. It's a mistake in hindsight, but we'd be equally pissed if he got doubled off, which is NOT unthinkable considering the strong throw to 3rd. Xero
Dude, he had to tag up! That could have been caught and either way he was out. Higginson just made one hell of a throw.
OSUBUCKS2
it would be completely different if he had gotten doubled off. what im trying to say is that gload ran us out of an inning

Why did he have to tag up he was on first. If it was willie i can see him tagging up, not gload.

Gload would have had no chance at getting to 2nd base while tagging up, if Higgenson hadn't have gone into that slide. And long before Higgenson slid, Gload was tagging up. If Higgs makes a regular catch at the wall, Gload is dead at 2nd base.
Guest JimH
Gload needed to go halfway to 2nd on that play. The reason being, if the outfielder has to run a long way to catch the ball and there's a decent chance it will drop, the runner has to make sure he can get the extra base. On the other hand, if it's simply a deep fly ball and it's reasonably clear the outfielder will make the play, then Gload should tag up and try for 2nd. Yes, Higginson made a great throw, but Gload screwed that up big time. Higginson had a long way to run to catch the ball, and as it turned out he didn't. Critical mistake, and very bad baserunning. DABearSoX
Gload should be played only off the bench plain and simple, his baseball fundamentals are horrible....or send him down to AAA and teach him some fielding and base running skills
Molto
wow, some of you are really jumping the gun. the play was bad, no doubt, but you guys are bashing his skills around one baserunning play and a couple mistakes in the field? he's made two pretty good defensive plays in the last week (none noted) and has been a consistent hitter all season ... yet it seems some want him gone. as far as the record when he plays? are you kidding me? bring up a record for a starting pitcher but not a position player. that's just dumb. Thank you, Ross is a very solid guy to have on the bench. He's probably been our best pinch hitter and has come up with some big hits, leave the guy alone.
