July 25, 200421 yr I've seen a few people here say that the team doesn't win when Gload plays. I went ahead and checked to see if it was true. The Sox are 33-26 when Gload plays.
July 25, 200421 yr Gload's only redeeming qualities are his pinch hitting capabilities and his defense from the 1B position. He can't do anything else. His baserunning instincts are bad, bad, bad.....
July 25, 200421 yr Author >What about when he starts? I think that is the version I keep reading. In games where Gload has more than one AB the record is: 14W-13L
July 25, 200421 yr In games where Gload has more than one AB the record is: 14W-13L in all other games then, we are 38-29
July 25, 200421 yr That's not as bad as I thought, also. Wonder what his record is the last 3 weeks when he starts. It sure seems they lose a lot when he plays, but the stats are proving otherwise I guess.
July 25, 200421 yr Author Full breakdown; which is much more scary. April: 5 games with more than 1AB 2W-3L May: 9 games more than 1AB 7W-2L June: 8 games more than 1AB 2W-6L July: 5 game more than 1 AB 2W-3L
July 25, 200421 yr There should definitely be an upgrade for Ross Gload available, at low cost. While I understand he may have some redeeming qualities as a defensive 1st baseman, this latest baserunning blunder is just not acceptable. I would take Olerud over Gload in a hearbeat.

We have a couple great replacements, unfortunately they are on the DL
July 26, 200421 yr Gload's baserunning on Rowand's double was atrocious. Big turning point in the game. Timo should always play over him.
