Yea, I saw that earlier and was like "Is this guy this dumb?" ;)

God, some athletes have these god giving talents that they can become great stars and they just make stupid decisions to f*** up their careers..

This was a really dumb thing to do, but maybe this will turn on a light in his head and he'll realize that that was really stupid, and he'll be better off b/c of it.

Wow is that sad. Hopefully the kid can learn from this and turn his life around.

This is the ugly downside to drafting HS kids. Too much pressure, too much money, too little maturity.

And the really sad thing is at least MLB provides a support structure for these kids. They have a minor league system taylor made for these 18-22 year olds. I can't imagine how the NBA and NFL kids don't end up more screwed up than they already do...

True. However, I'm not so certain being paired with other 18-22 year olds is better than being paired with adults. The minor leagues, the longer season, the homesickness, etc. may all be worse for MLBers. Plus the NFL and NBA guys are in the show, they have to produce now, not 5 years from now.

Congrats, Jeff, you just flushed your entire life down the drain.

Seems like he was already pretty far along on that...

His life was in the toilet to begin with, this was the final straw.

He told a Boston newspaper a few months ago that he was addicted to OxyContin. I wouldn't be surprised if he was still addicted to heroin back then and lied so the backlash by the Marlins wouldn't be as bad.
