the count

i couldnt watch the game so i dont know what the hell happened

i know that contreras has been known in new york for being erratic... in chicago he has been consistantly good, aside from this horrid start....

last time he faced TEX he was with NY and it was this year... that start he gave up 1 ER in 7 IP as i recall

what happened today? did he just not have command of anything? hopefully this is a necessary step that needed to transpire for our coaching staff to continue to work with the count...

can someone shead some more light on the situation for me?

thanks, and a river derci

He fell in love with the forkball and refused to throw heat. Over and over again. when he finally threw a fastball he got hammered by Delluci. Hawk and Dj were all over his ass, cause he was 3-1 all night long.

Hawk and Dj were all over his ass,

That was great, after Contreras threw that forkball into the ground. DJ sadi" Thats Terrible"

They said this was one of the things that use to piss the Yankmees off as well. Contreras would fall in love with his forkball and refuse to throw anything else and he would get hammered due to it. They said Posada would get into and arguement with him on the mound and Contreras would still refuse. I sure hope this doesn't turn major because the Sox need him to pitch good for years to come.

And hopefully by the guy blowing up like this, Ozzie can get his point accross to throw more fastballs. A pitch like that forkball is only effective, when they aren't looking for it. If you know it is coming, and it starts anywhere from the thigh area down, you know to lay off of it for a ball. If it is in the back of your head that the pitch might be a fastball you have to swing.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that.... how many times did he implode with the Yankmees and it didn't seem to make a difference. Hopefully he will see it but it doesn't seem likely. :huh

This is where Ozzir should just lay down the law ... "If you shake off one pitch, I'm coming to get your ass."

I haven't been imprssed with JC's past few starts.

I agree 100%. I would almost make it seem too extreme. Take him out in the 5th inning if that helps get the message across. He'll be unhappy, the team will probably seem unhappy, Oz will seem like a dolt, and it may cost us a win...but right now, winning games is not really the most important things. Getting guys straightened out for next year is what's important.

The problem is NY sent him to A-ball for pretty much the same thing... They told him not to come back until he used the FB... well look what's happened.

Contreras was traded by the Yanks because they considered him to be a stubborn, weak willed head case who melted down in pressure situations. To me, he is a more dramatic version of laid back Jon Garland, who is also weak willed and melts down in the crunch. We have Buerhle and Freddy. After that our rotation gives me hives.

So, did we really rip off the Yankees?

Is this how Contreras will be for us for the next 2 years?

We'd better get a really good pitcher in the offseason. The Contreras/Garland crapshoot could not be good.

when he first came over, we all knew he would have some work to do.... hopefully he can keep progressing... i mean, he is still 4 - 3 with a 3.86 ERA with our team

one loss can make a ton of diffrence, 5 - 2 sounds a lot better dosent it

he'll be fine
