Felix Diaz has a 1.10 ERA over his last 16.1 IP(2ER). I can't find better stretch like that from any of Cotts, Adkins, Politte.

 

After starting his ML career allowing 11HR's in his first 23 IP, Diaz has settled down and has gone 23 innings without allowing a HR.

 

Wilson Valdez got his first ML start at SS -- He was 2-3 w/ and RBI. -- Jose Valentin's last 2 hit game was August 10th. Valentin has 2 RBI's(one was a sac fly) and 0HR since August 10th while batting .130(10-77)

I will cringe if I see Valentin start again. And I'm all for the likes of Marte and Shingo not pitching much at all so we can give more time to the likes of Diaz and Cotts, Marte's had a dead arm all season anyways.

Cheat, I agree about valdez, I want to see him play more. Diaz has been great in the bullpen, I think we should leave him in there and maybe we've found ourselves another solid relief pitcher for next year?

I've always felt that if Diaz has a major league future, it is in the bullpen.

 

He may challenge Adkins for a role in the bullpen next year. Sox have a lot of sorting out to do with these younger pitchers, i.e. Cotts, Adkins, Bajenaru, Diaz, Grilli, Munoz, and others.
