September 29, 200421 yr I repeat: Cotts is not a MLB pitcher until he learns another pitch. It's not like he has a 95 mph fastball that he can throw past anyone. Maybe we can trade him for Farnsworth.
September 29, 200421 yr What do May, June, July, and September have in common? Neal Cotts had an ERA over 7 in each of these months!
September 29, 200421 yr Yes, the Farnsworth comment was a joke. For some reason, the green didnt work. Sorry.

Maybe we can trade him for Farnsworth. Even though I've been critical of him, its only because some people adamently search for excuses to explain his failures. I believe Neal Cotts has potential. His 'sneaky' fastball routinely touches 92 mph and there have been several outings where flashes of brilliance have surfaced. A typical Neal Cotts line usually consists of several ER's and numerous strikeouts. I suppose these type of players will drive you crazy deciding whether or not they'll "pull it all together."
September 29, 200421 yr Cotts gave up a HR once every 34.67 Innings in the Minors. In the Majors he's given them up at a rate of one every 5.6 innings.

September 29, 200421 yr Cotts gave up a HR once every 34.67 Innings in the Minors. In the Majors he's given them up at a rate of one every 5.6 innings. So if he pitched roughly 200 innings he would give up around 30 a year. Which is not good.
September 29, 200421 yr What are his home and away splits FWIW Cheat, home run wise? I know you did not ask me but he has given up 4 at home and now 9 on the road.
September 29, 200421 yr What are his home and away splits FWIW Cheat, home run wise? They don't explain anything... He's a WHOLE lot better at home. 4HR vs. 9HR on the road... His walk rate is much higher at home, and his BAA much lower... It appears that he just tries to make perfect pitches on the road... Uses the zone too much.
