October 2, 200421 yr Colon pitches to the occassion. I think he's a better pitcher down the stretch, in big games then some Thursday night game in June. I always liked his attitude in tough situations.
October 2, 200421 yr I still can't believe Colon is 18-12 with a 5.01 ERA His ERA in the second half has been under 4.00, and he has just been throwing the hell out of the ball. That, and him staying in to pitch longer has had a lot to do with him. It is simple logic...if you throw more innings, you will give up more runs(hence, the ERA goes up), but you will get more wins because you will give the bullpen less of a chance to blow it(hence more wins). Colon is a workhorse, and thus gets a lot of wins. That and the Angels offense is pretty damn good too.

If any one factor could be attributed to their failures its the bullpen. 27 blown saves?! That's truly a shame. Now they can't choke their way out of the playoffs.

That would not bode well in USCF. FYI...Zito's career GO-AO is 0.78...this year it is, coincidentally, 0.78, was 0.88 in 2003, and was 0.75 in 2002, his Cy Young year. In fact, his GO-AO has never been close to 1, unless you count 2003. I don't want Zito at all.
