Clemens will start against the Colorado Rockies with the chance to lead the Astros to the National League Wild Card playoff berth. A win would clinch it. A loss, coupled with a Giants loss, would also clinch it. But should the Astros lose and the Giants win, the two teams would play one game to determine who goes to Atlanta for the Division Series, which begins Wednesday I've become a huge Clemens fan. I really really wish he grew up on the southside and wanted to finish his career as a White Sox.

Right-hander Brandon Backe was to start instead against Colorado. The Astros lead San Francisco by one game in the National League Wild Card race and can clinch the final playoff spot with a win against the Colorado Rockies. Should Houston lose on Sunday and the Giants defeat Los Angeles on Sunday, the Astros and Giants would be forced to play a one-game playoff on Monday at SBC Park in San Francisco. Backe is 4-3 with a 4.35 ERA. Clemens is expected to be able to pitch on Wednesday at Atlanta should the Astros make the playoffs.

I have pointed to that many times.
