The poll results make it pretty clear what we need to do this offseason. I hope we don't go after Lima. That's like buying a stock at its 52-week high. Granted, I don't know if Lowe could give us the 20+ win, sub 3 ERA he did only once before. I'd just hate for Kenny to pick up nobody to help our rotation.

Agreed.

Maybe Lieber can get shelled in a couple more starts for the Yanks and we can buy him when the cost is cheap.

18 BB's in almost 180 IP? Seems like Contreras has about 9 per start. I would be very pleased with adding Lieber to the rotation, I forgot about him.

Lowe, Leiber...

That's playing Moneyball, baby! Watch out BB...

Radke is pretty damn ridiculous also, 26 walks in 219 and 2/3 innings.

Yeah, too bad his price tag is so gross.

I just noticed that It appears the Yanks have a team option on lieber. They gave him genious incentive-laden deal. His price tag will be $8M next season for the yanks should they choose to pick it up, which with the dearth of thier pitching, seems almost assured.

He should make 6-7. Any team that pays more than that is drastically over paying.

That's bad news. He was the one I was hoping the Sox get. Radke or Lowe would be OK with me. Pavano also, of course.

I agree, they should pick up his option, due to their lack of pitching, and you know money won't be a problem for Steinbrenner. Let me ask this question though, if they could sign Pavano for $8 to 9 million, would they still pick up Lieber's option? They'd already have Mussina, Vasquez, El Duque (if they decide to bring him back), Brown for 4 spots in their rotation.

First and foremost we need a solid starter. We cannot afford to do the roulette wheel routine next season or we'll bury ourselves again. A guaranteed loss every 5th day doesn't win you anything except 1st dibs on a tee time in Florida in October.

Philly and Detroit will go pretty hard after Lowe I've heard. Boston will look to resign him as well, if they can bring back their good infield D. I'll be interested to see what happens with Radke, he didn't exactly have the best playoff outing in game 2, and it'll be interesting to see if the Twinkies decide to bring him back or not.

I feel that they would because brown is very susceptible to injury and they most likely don't want to run into the same problem they had this year pitching wise.

I have heard the tigers were interested and that the red sox may want to resign him. But never the phillies. Do you know where you heard that from? Just curious.

Various newspaper articles during the season. Because Philly's ballpark plays like the Coors Field of the NL East, they want some more groundball pitchers, and they feel Lowe would be a good addition. Of course Millwood didn't pitch at his best, and Brett Myers didn't come on as the Phillies would have liked either.

Have to hand it to shuerholtz for getting estrada for millwood. Millwood has pitched like s*** for the money he is making. While on the other hand estrada was damn good this year and made practically made practically nothing.

Small ball is what we need.

The Sox need new ownership more than anything else!
