If we trade Carlos...

Jose Gullien. Carlos Guillen is in Detriot.

Jose Guillen is a possibility, but I dont know if I want that cancer.

Not sure how much of a cancer he really is. He was one of the main reasons Anaheim won 92 games.

I've said all along that I think Jose would be an excellent addition, regardless of what we do with Carlos. I think Jose could be a 35-40 homer guy here with a .950-1.000 OPS.

I think from what you hear is that there is much more beneath the surface with Guillen. He went to a team dominated by Latins and that didn't help either. He's a great talent but look at how many teams he's been with. A guy that young and that good shouldn't have moved the way he has.

I think if Carlos is dealt Jose Guillen would fit in production wise and budget wise. However, Kenny has made it quite a big deal to get character guys in the clubhouse and although I think some of the stuff said about Guillen was overblown, you have to wonder if the Sox would be willing to acquire him.

No doubt he'd put up very good numbers on the southside, plus he plays good defense (awesome arm). I think he can be had for a guy like Arnie Munoz and another prospect.

I read somewhere that the Pirates were interested in him and you can't see them offering up top prospects, which leads me to believe the Angels aren't going to get much for him.

Which would explain to me why they'd be willing to keep him, even if they keep him until the end of ST or even into the season. They want to get as much value out of him as possible.

Or they truly dont want to trade him...either/or.

I don't care how the media is spinning it now, their is no way that Guillen is an Angel at the start of next year.

I've heard it from a few people in the Angels org (on the radio) that they will be pursuing Carlos Beltran. They want a centerfielder and they want Anderson back in left field.

That would make a lot of sense

Still, even considering that, you'd have to give up something pretty solid to get him. Cleveland said that they were trading Milton Bradley this past ST and they still got a decent prospect for him

Guillen is a pretty solid ballplayer. I'd take him. Sometimes a guy just has to find the right fit. Whether that happens in Chicago or not, who can say.

I wonder what KW has heard that leads him to believe Beltran has an unterest in playing for the Sox. Has anyone heard anything?

I would guess(though this is total speculation on my part) that KW called Boras and said that he if Houston cannot resign Beltran before November 11th that KW and the Sox will be very interested in him and will be going after him, and Boras just probably said that he(Beltran) was interested in playing in Chicago too.

Regardless...I envision Beltran on a coast(more specifically...New York or Anaheim) or back in the state of Texas(or more specifically, Houston or Texas...Boras and Hicks have a great working relationship, though I'm not sure if bridges were burned in trading ARod...and he could fit, though Texas would have to get rid of some of their young talent...probably for pitching).

I think the best bet is to go after drew instead of beltran. We get a left hand bat, good power, monster obp, ops over a 1.000, good speed but has lost some of it due to injuries, has been said he has a center fielders range but a right fileders arm. For 6-8 million less per year i think it is worth the risk of going after drew rather than beltran. Because we honestly have no chance in hell of getting beltran.
