Anthrax.

Just some info, the Administration here at Soxtalk decided a few months ago to suspend people on occasion who resort to personal attacks.

Please keep that in mind when you disagree with others here.

Does anyone have the link to that thread to back me up?

I would be all for getting Nick Johnson. He is only 26, or 4 years younger than Antrax boy Cabrera, with a ton of potential.

Anthrax, Nick Johnson was a big part of why Javier Vazquez was sent to the Yanks, it has nothing to do with his ability. He also had no where to go with Jason Giambi playing first and Bernie Williams being moved to DH. Do you even think about things before you type?

Anyways, here is what scouts inc. says about him:

Hitting

Johnson is one of the most patient hitters in the league. This had gotten him into trouble at times during his rookie campaign, when pitchers came right at him and often put him behind in the count. But the balance shifted last year as he began to earn greater respect. Not a classic power hitter by any stretch, he hits a lot of line drives and will use the whole field. He may mature into a .300 hitter, or he may develop into a consistent 25-homer guy, but even if he does neither, he'll remain a fine-if somewhat unconventional-No. 2 hitter because of his ability to get on base.

Baserunning & Defense

Johnson has been used as a DH at times, but that isn't due to any defensive deficiencies. He's a good first baseman with decent range around the bag, and three of his five errors came in a disastrous September game against Detroit. He runs deceptively well, and it can't be taken for granted he'll always stay put.

Thats fine, but I was not the one who started the personal attacks,, ever since I came onto these boards All i hear about is how

OC..aka Godlike player would not fit onto the Sox because ..I still trying to figure that out...

Then we want Polacno,. who would fit maybe on the Barons..

and now I hear about Nick Johnson.. if you fail in Triple-a Montreal, thats pretty sad..

I sprry I hirt your feelings. and I make sure to soften the reality of MLB

You called zero a dips*** for no reason at all.

Also cabrera is no where near god like so that may be our reasoning.

We already have a DH/1b who lives on the DL...anyone who thinks that Nick Johnson is a great player, I have a Island in the Atlantic I sell you. He had a good 1/2 season in 2003, thats it.

Hey ANthrax, just for your information, N. Johnson was riddled with injurys all last year.

Perhaps, by some strange means of logic, this affected his swing. New concept, yes, I know.

Maybe with some good conditioning and workouts during the offseason he'll be 100% by Spring Training.

Johnson posted a .422 OBP in about 300 at bats with the Yankees in a healthy year, he's only 26, and he has tremendous upside.

Not to mention he makes a very small amount of money (1.25 mil in 2004), like I said, low risk, high reward.
