qwerty
year 1 73 games Year 2 136 Games Year 3 160 games Year 4 97 games Those are very comparable to johnson Keep trying to sell me the crap you guys have to offer. Have you ever thought that taking a risk, it may not be the worst possible thing to do. Every single player has a chance of missing games. Yes, even cabrera. DBAHO
I respect your opinion DBHA0, but Gload looked horrendous defensively in RF last year. I think he would cost us way too many outs/runs if he is a platoon player in RF. That is just my opinion of course. Yeah those were my thoughts too, but it's just something to consider to get Gloady into the lineup more. And Everett isn't going to be too much better defensively either in RF. A speedy, defensive outfielder would be a nice addition off the bench possibly.

DBAHO
Forget about Gibbons anyways. The O's aren't going to non - tender him, and have begun negotiating with his agent on a new one - year deal.

Wise Master Buehrle
So missing almost 1/2 the season in year 3 is comparbale to the 1 whole season in year 2??? Ahem. In 2002, the Yankees signed Jason Giambi. Perhaps that is why Johnson played so little games in 02 and 03! If I had the choice, I'd be starting Giambi over Johnson any day. David WElls Todd Ritice Jamie Navaro Albert Belle Letting Ray Ray go Not having a Solid back-up plan for Maggs Those Risks have gotten us far Shingo Trading for Marte Trading for Freddy Garcia Not trading Konerko when his value was the lowest Hiring Ozzie Letting A-Row play everyday despite his early struggles You're always going to have risks taken that will either backfire or pay off. David WElls Todd Ritice Jamie Navaro Albert Belle Letting Ray Ray go Not having a Solid back-up plan for Maggs Those Risks have gotten us far David got injured, could have happened to any player in baseball. Ritchie trade was retarded. Navaro signing was also retarded. Albert belle, do you know the numbers he out up here? Durham was way too expensive and sub par defense. AnthraxFan93
Shingo.. Not a risk Trading for Marte Trading for Freddy Garcia..a fly ball pitcher in Coors Lite wise move there Not trading Konerko when his value was the lowest..who wants a 1b hitting .217 making 8 mil? Hiring Ozzie.. didn't help to much so far. Letting A-Row play everyday despite his early struggles.. This is why we got Carla in 03 right? You're always going to have risks taken that will either backfire or pay off.
DBAHO
FWIW Durham is making $7,000,000 this season I believe and now the Giants are trying to trade him after signing Vizquel. And at least Jon Adkins has turned into a MLB reliever, originally we thought we got nothing on that deal.

Rowand44
You're always going to have risks taken that will either backfire or pay off. Exactly, that's what makes it a risk. You have to take some risks otherwise you aren't going to win.
ZoomSlowik
Yeah, Albert Belle was absolutely terrible when he was here... 97- 90 runs 30 homers 116 RBI .274 BA 98- 113 runs 49 homers 152 RBI .328 BA I can't see why we ever wanted to get him. God he sucked.

Letting A-Row play everyday despite his early struggles.. This is why we got Carla in 03 right? Apparently the sox could have gotten odalis perez for konerko in 2003. He did not hit .217 that year anyway, it was .234. Could have sworn he was talking about this last year with rowand.
qwerty
And how many of those players helped win a AL title? How many would orlando cabrera help us win? 80 in a row? Probally when he is dead too, right?
ZoomSlowik
You're arguing that 58 games on a Red Sox team that was already going to the playoffs makes him a good option, that he's going to make the difference in getting us to the playoffs? He wasn't even the best SS to play for the Red Sox this season. He did a real good job getting the Expos to the playoffs too.
SuperSteve
I would take Johnson, but not give up too much for him. Maybe we could make it a larger deal and maybe grab one of their young pitchers (perferably Zach Day) and possibly Schnieder.
MurcieOne
How could you be against getting Nick Johnson.... Besides him being physically ugly, He bats lefty He has a good OBP He has a better glove at 1B than anyone on our roster He's hitting ability has yet to be tapped He runs alot faster than our current 1b Buy low.......KW's specialty I've wanted Nick Johnson for a long time... if he's available go and get him. BTW... if you enjoy posting here.... limit the personal attacks. This is debate not hillbillie's disputin over who gets to pump their sister next. Understood?
