2005 starting rotation

The only realistic thing the Sox can do this offseason reference their starting rotation is to go through FA and get Clement or someone like him.

The Johnson deal is a pipe dream and even if it wasn't it would hurt the team more than it would help because we'd lose yet another top prospect, Konerko's production and there would still not be a 5th starter on this team which means a guaranteed loss every 5th day when we spin whats below.

Thats a horrible argument... Alex Rodriquez has been with 3 teams

Yes A-rod has...

Signed by Seattle then left via FA, to Rangers who traded him cause he was to pricey

Clement on the other hand

Signed with the Padres, who gave up on him then traded him to the Marlins in the Brown deal,

then traded to the Cubs w/ alfonseca , in the deal that sent Willis to the Marlins.

OK well its still a horrible argument..

Look at some of the people who have bounced around and are very solid players..

I would love to get a Pavano, Pedro, Johnson, one of oaklands big 3, but Pavano and Pedro would be too much $, AND a huge risk, and Johnson would cost to much, as with the big 3. I would love to get Clement. we could be are #3 pitcher, move jose to #4, and Garland to #5. I would believe that he could be had for 5-8 mil but i am totaly guessing. also i think we should pick up osuna and urbina, along with nomar, and maybe varatek or someother catcher. I would aslo love to get pierre maybe for anderson or sweeney.

With this said here is what i would like for the 2005 sox...might not be realistic but i guess i could happen :huh

CF--PIERRE

I'll take this (not a real batting order, just position order)

2b-HARRIS

ss-URIBE

3b-CREDE

1b-KONERKO

dh-HURT

lf-LEE

cf-ROW

rf-JURASSIC

ca-GREG ZAUN

SP

GARCIA

BUEHRLE

PEREZ

CONTRERAS

GARLAND

PEN STAYS MORE OR LESS AS IS.

This is not the most elctrifying makeover for our team but it would give us a good staff and the flexibility to find out what we need in June. We try out Harris and Uribe and the back end of the Pen and if there are any glaring holes we fill them when we know more. I think this would be a decent combination of realism, being proactive, and yet not being married to the team thru september.

I'm sorry but I would take Clement over Lowe just because he's younger and wants to stay in Chicago. Plus maybe some of casual cub fans might come and see him if the cubs are out of town on games he's starting.

Personally I don't see how many teams he's been on being as a reason not to sign him. I'd take him if he had been with 20 teams as long as the guy could pitch.

How does all this happen? Would not be possible with the amount of money they have to spend.

Kevin Brown was one of the best pitchers in the league when Clement was traded to Florida for him. That argument holds no ground. Basically, if Clement is not good because he was traded as part of a package for a better pitcher, Freddy Garcia is not good. Afterall, Freddy was traded from Houston to Seattle as part of a package for RJ.

And your throw-in argument along with Alfonseca holds no ground either, considering Derek Lowe and Jason Varitek were traded from Seattle as part of a package in which Heathcliff Slocumb ended up in Seattle. That was probably one of the most one-sided trades of the late 90s. Basically, Lowe was a throw-in in that deal, so if you don't want Clement because he was a throw-in, you shouldn't want Lowe because he was a throw-in.

First off, I was wrong Clement was not traded from the Padres to the Marlins for Brown.. He was traded with Eric Owens for Cesar Crespo and Mark Kotsay.

Also I am not a fan of Garcia in a Sox uni.. So this holds no ground. I never liked the trade after I found out that he is a fly ball pitcher in coors lite doesn't help.

Does not matter if you are a fan of garcia or not, it does ''hold ground.'' It is the same exact concept.
