AnthraxFan93
Alright, why do you have to play dumb? You know i was talking about aurilia. oooo SO you would rather, pay a declining 5 mil than 2mil.. Oo ok that makes sense
CWSGuy406
WE could of went out and gotten Rich Aurilla for 2 mil I think Seattle signed him for.. And that is who I wanted.. And look you save 3 million, and then we realize that Rich is not the answerr and play Uribe more.. So, you take a HUGE hit on the defensive side of the ball, a huge hit in power, a huge hit in RBI's, only to upgrade about .030 percentage points higher (AVG & OBP)??? Remember, this is December of 2003 (I assume you're incapable of doing this, but just try anyways). Juan Uribe has barely had one good season in his life, there's no WAY you can rely on him to be your starter; he's not even a very good emergency option. You don't KNOW what Valentin will hit next season, too...
qwerty
oooo SO you would rather, pay a declining 5 mil than 2mil.. Oo ok that makes sense Well i would rather have neither. But if i had to choose it would probally be valentin since he is better alot better defensively and alot more homeruns, way better slugging, and ops. santo=dorf
Cheat, you have to remember -- stats have no bearing on how good or bad a player is.. It only matters if the player has left Montreal or how that player FINISHES the season. :rolly
AnthraxFan93
Cheat, you have to remember -- stats have no bearing on how good or bad a player is.. Cause if his initals are not PP.. Then that player is a pile of crap :rolly
Gene Honda Civic
Thank you The Cheat.. The poopsmith says Hi! your paying attention to the wrong numbers... Aurilia .667 Valentin .760 Valentin was worth about 2 more wins for 1.85M -- Exacty the going rate for WARP.

As I was closing windows, I noticed I had messed up on aurilia's WARP... it should be 2.2 not 3.2, making Jose worth about 3 more wins @ $1.85M or about half the going rate for WARP.... Valentin 2004 WARP/$ = 5.0/$5M = 1M/WARP Aurilia 2004 WARP/$ = 2.2/$3.15M = $1.43M/WARP Valentin was the better value.

So the 2 more wins, that Jose got us.. wow so instead of speading 5mil to get 2nd place we could have spent 2 mil.. WOW..that makes sense

YASNY
He was traded. Ok, if that's the case, then I stand corrected. I know they were on the verge of releasing him cause the cub fan tools were excited about him playing for Dusty again and they'd get him for nothing. Someone (SD?) must have jumped in at the last minute to save him the indignity of getting released, and probably gave up very little for him. EDIT: That'll teach me not to rely on memory again. Getting old is hell, but better than the alternative.
Mathew
I like Cabrera too, but if you want to talk about players leaving Montreal to have good careers, why did you pick s***ty ones. Barrett, Grudz, Alou? Alou was already good, Barrett isn't good and Grudz is worse. How about Larry Walker, Pedro, Johnson, Jeff Shaw, Cliff Floyd to think of a few.
