I might be crazy

But I think Podsednik will get about 100 SB's this year with his speed, predicting he will hit 280 and our new coach Rock Raines giving him tips..

Would love to see the Sox get Luis Castillo and he will have a deadly 1-2 punch

100? Wow. That would be incredible, but I don't really see it happening. I'd love to be wrong, though.

I think he'll probably be running nearly everytime he gets on base, though, so if your .280 avg comes through, it's possible.

However, he was 70-for-83 last season - I don't think he needs tips from Rock. ;)

Now Willie Harris, that's a whole different story.

Great point. Willie's just as fast as Podsednik, and hopefully he and Raines can help him learn the art of base stealing. If he could learn how to do it, he'll always have a major league job.

I don't think the American League is conducive to base stealer getting 100 in a year. It's different type of game than in the NL. I'll be happy with 50.

That's something Ozzie has to keep in mind for 2005, that we're not in the NL and we shouldn't be playing like we are.

I don't really care for base stealing but it is a lost art.

I agree with you accept in the rare case of a guy like SPod. There are a couple guys (SPod included) who are almost impossible to throw out. It takes away double play possibilities negates the need to sacrifice a batter (i.e., via the bunt) and puts a runner in scoring position early.

I also think it can set a tone early in a game, even at the major league level.

I think until he displays a batting eye like Rickey, and for that matter anybody else, no one will hit 100. The fast guys like Pod and Pierre don't draw those 100 walks that give you extra steal chances. I think if you get on at a .314 clip, 70 is the ceiling. On another point, how would you have loved to have Rickey on your roto team in the early 80's? He AVERAGED 5 steals a week one season and plus he had respectable power and scored a plethora of runs. There will likely never be another Henderson.

I think SPod's steals will be lowered just by having to face catchers like I Rod and others now. I still think he is going to be a mofo to throw out though and will get about 40 or 50 steals....

He was a good player but he was an arrogant bastard.

Your absolutely right about him being a jerk, but he could have batted leadoff for my team from Monday to Sunday

You just have to look at what Dave Roberts did in the playoffs for the Red Sox to see how valuable the stolen base is. He killed Mariano Rivera with his speed.

Perfect example. Can you remember the last guy we had who could do that, prior to SPod? It's been awhile.

Lance Johnson?

i'd be happy with 50 steals if he boosted his obp and average.

I may be crazy, but I hope he hits 100 homeruns. Those are actually worth something.

I agree with you totally, I posted this yesterday, I would trade Garland, Harris, and prospects for AJ and Castillo, whatever it takes.
