Cub fans have a monopoly on phone calls.

Don't these morons have enough air-time to express their baseless fantasies on the MIke Murph Evening Show?

What are the cubs fans asking? Is it like "Why don't the Cubs just sign Beltran and keep Sosa? I'm a stupid idiot who throws money at them blindly and have no clue they're owned by a corporation and actually have to show a profit."

Seriously though, what are they asking? They should be angry at their GM for not landing a closer...

Considering 60% of that rotation was with the Yankees last year, and they couldn't win with a line up that is so superior to the line up the White Sox would field in 2005, I'm really not that impressed.

The best point I've seen on this board in a while. That kind of logic is dangerous around here.

I wouldn't doubt it.

They're everywhere; suggesting Sosa trades and filling the airwaves with a Beltran lovefest.

Kotex Boy trying to explain the benefits of overbidding for Troy Percival. :nono

They've gotta be nervous since the Yanks/Dodgers/ Az deal fell part. Look for George to go after Beltran hard core now.

FWIW, Terry Boers said "His guy" said El Duque to the Sox is done... I know that ain't worth s***, but I can't listen to Mariotti without stabbing my eyes out, so listening to Boers and Bernstein.... Boers did work in the newspaper industry for awhile, but his NBA sources are usually good, not sure about his baseball sources

not only that, but Beltran has said he really liked playing in Houston, so it sounds like the Cubs would have to outbid the Astros...

Is he also explaining the benefits of being the Mets and Orioles?

I'm guessing his guy is George Offman, but it might be another source.

and his wife loves houston. plus if he doesnt put numbers up in ny cause of "presure" the ny media will kill him. thats what i asked michael kay yesterday on his show in ny. i said he's so used to playing in the big time so he never had presure and he said i had a good point

Case #1: Release Sosa. Eat Sosa's 18 million dollar contract.

Case #2: Sign Beltran, THEN worry about unloading Sosa. As if there wouldn't be any doubt of Hendry's intentions.

Case #3: Trade Sosa/Farnsworth to Arizona for Randy Johnson since three-way discussions broke down.

Case #4: Trade Sosa to White Sox for a collection of minor leaguers, Aaron Rowand.

These were all examples I heard last night. Kid you not. Listen to Mike Murphy's Evening Show on 670 AM if you're seeking a laugh.

No, they've ragged on him for being wrong before... I think it's someone else... Boers wouldn't consider him a source...

Ofman is an absolute joke... on Saturday morning he was on with Rosenthal and he said "The white sox are for sure the 4th team" Meaning the NY/LA/AZ trade....

Then later WSCR was reporting that the Sox are not the 4th team and smugly said "no matter what rumors you heard" of course not saying that they were reporting it for over 1/2 the day :bang

wscr=worlds s***iest, and crappy radio

what a bunch of douche bags.... Cubs fans really don't get that the Cubs have to make money, they can't even break even, it wouldn't make sense for a corporation to have a known money making part of their business and downgrade it and still carry all the potential liability... un f***in real

thanks for the update

Just heard El Duque is 39????? That can't be right... damn. Also heard he's only made 30 starts in one of his 7 seasons.... great

who knows he can be 93 for all that we know

A 39 year old pitcher for $2 million per doesn't sound so bad when comparing to a 41 year old pitcher at $16 million per and losing Konerko, Garland and Sweeney.

Ex Yankee, new Dodger broadcaster Charlie Steiner is on with Boers and Bernstein, and they asked him about El Duque....

He said he came back 2 months early from surgery, pitched very well until he seemed to run out of gas. Said it would be a good signing for the Sox if he's their 4th or 5th starter and they don't expect him to start 33 games...

Also said one of the reasons he left NY was the atmosphere there, said winning wasn't fun, it was a relief...

I'm guessing his guy is George Offman, but it might be another source.

nope its not Offman. he references "his guy" on deals. they are usually right on. its somebody in the industry.

Charlie Steiner

Evander Holyfield:

"STEINER! Come on out Charlie ... take your whoopin' Steiner!"

(Steiner hiding under desk at ESPN studios)
