Pierzynski still possible

Since Orlando Hernandez wouldn't require as much money as was set aside for Matt Clement, the White Sox could pursue free agents A.J. Pierzynski and Alex Cora.

Pierzynski would be a clear upgrade over Ben Davis. Cora would also help, though one has to wonder if the White Sox would consider him if he weren't the younger brother of third-base coach Joey Cora.

No to Eckstein. Nearly all of his ab's are as a leadoff hitter where he has an OPS < 700.

He does not fit well with the CWS. Pods & Uribe will beat that & possibly his 343 obp.

I'm not willing to experiment with him in the 7-9 spots.

What we need: Zaun & Cairo. Both are proven 7 & 9 hitter.

7-Zaun 349 o, 469 s

8-Crede 330 o, 503 s

9-Cairo 368 o, 436 s

AJ can't block a pitch or throw out a runner to save his life. That's why the SFG said adios. Zaun is a better fit for the CWS.

That rotoworld quote was nothing but pure speculation on their part. There isn't even a "rumor" aspect to what they said.

For the record, I agree with JUGGER. Zaun would be a very solid addition to this team. I can't argue against Cairo, either.
