thelatinoheat_30 Posted December 25, 2004 Share Posted December 25, 2004 hey, yea i heard you guys got el duque...and i dont think he's going to disappoint you guys next year. He's old, but he's still got about one or two years left in him. His specialty is off-speed pitches, so plenty of curves, sliders and a fastball at around 85-88. He throws alot of pitches tho, because he sets up batters so the count will go to 3-1, 3-2 alot so be patient. he has a decent pick-off move but the most important thing was that he is amazing in the postseason. He can easily pitch a great game when you guyus most neeed it, but at times he is inconsistent, mainly because he throws so many pitches. he should be a solid 3rd starter. sounds pretty good, except for the part about going deep into counts. Yes, that does suck since we want him more than any of our starters to have a low pitch count. 80-90 pitches is honestly the most i would go with him. He has started atleast 29 games twice in his career...and he has been in the majors 7 years. That's not a good track record if you ask me. His shoulder should be fully healed by now and stronger than his shoulder that did not have surgery. This is coming from a person who has had rotator cuff surgery before. It takes about a year of rehab to get the shoulder mobilized and working again. So with two years of rehab and strengthening and about 1/2 of a season to get comfortable to his new shoulder he should be fine. I look for good things in ‘05 from him.
