Bears Draft

Featured Replies

any thoughts on this yet,

with the #4 pick da-bears slect ..........

I would love for them to take Mike Williams or the best WR in the draft. However, I see Angelo trading down for two picks in the 1st round

If he can get two picks in the first round by trading down thatd be awesome

Unfortunately, I think you're going to be right about trading down. I think we'll end up with San Diego's picks.

I like someones idea to trade next years first rounder, a fourth rounder from this year, and a player for their first 2 picks. The chances of that actually happening though are slim to none.

according to stats inc, "this yr 2005 draft is somewhat as weak as a draft as 2004 was a strong draft"

so with that in mind, the trading is or may not really helped as it did in the past.

however, our need is OL and WR.

for me, as much as i am high on m williams, is he really fast enuf. deep threat speed, no. he make a nice additions with a team who already has a deep threat. his size and hands are great. (maybe a fa wr would help)

with that, if fergunson come out, i would take him with the pick

Can we take Vince Young?

If we did trade down to get the two first rounders would that involve our 2nd rounder ?? And no I dont think Vince Young is in the draft.

Young was a true Soph. He can't go pro til next draft.

I say Braylon Edwards. He has great potential and is a big receiver.

When I think Braylon Edwards it reminds me of David Terrell

That's the samething I think of. Lets just get Mike Williams

If D'Brickshaw comes out of Virgina.... I think you gotta take him...hes being pubbed as a franchise LT.....

I'm not a Bears fan but I am a Michigan fan. He isn't like him as much as you think. He's better than Terrell and stayed the extra year. Terrell had a decent rookie year, but he wasn't the best receiver on the team. Since then though, he's basically been the go to reciever if you consider the Bears having one. Getting Edwards would ease off pressure on Terrell.

What did Mike Williams do this year?

Hopefully, he kept in shape.

The combines will show what he really kept up on.

Not win a NC?

Hopefully he's in great shape. If they go with a WR in the 1st round I hope it's Williams, not Edwards.

Does his inactivity bother you guys or no?

Inactivity on the field doesn't bother me in a WR as much as it would if he were a QB.

Agreed. And, if we do go WR, I hope it's Williams. Also, I'm not sure how much money we have under the cap this year, but Walter Jones sure would look nice in a Bears Uni. Can anyone tell me what our cap situation looks like this offseason? Thanks

The numbers I've seen vary between $10-15million to play with, depending on what amount the cap is set at.

The Bears have a high pick at the absolute wrong time for them. The top 5 is likely to be some combination of Rodgers, Rolle, Derrick Johnson, the 3 top RB's, Leinhart and/or Travis Johnson if they come out, none of whom really solve our problems unless we decide to move on at QB. I'm not sure about Ferguson, he's being hyped but I haven't seen much of him. He's better than the other tackles in the draft from everything I've heard though. I like Williams, but he isn't an elite speed guy and 4 is probably too high. Unless he runs something ridiculous at the combine I don't see him going that high. I'm definitely not sold on Edwards. I agree with you guys, he has the same MO as Terell: not very fast, makes plays by being physical with guys and outjumping them in the endzone. That's not likely to work for him in the pros, much like Terrell (Terrell is actually a little bigger).

Here's my move if I'm Angelos: trade down and take Williams or Edwards and try to add offensive line depth with the extra picks. In free agency, make a major move to get any of the stud left tackles (IIRC, Walter Jones, Jonathan Ogden, and Orlando Pace are all potential FA) and sign a veteran backup QB. Those additions at least give Grossman (or whoever they plan on starting) a chance. Unfortunately it sounds like Angelos doesn't think adding a stud left tackle is a major priority (apparently he is blind). If Qasim Mitchell or Marc Colombo start at left tackle next year, it won't really matter who plays QB, the offense will struggle.

i agee with what you wrote, i waited to see what people were going to write before i did mine. but it is close to what you wrote

the bears need is on offense, esp at wr and ol.

this is a weak draft and too bad for us.

the bears will spend money in the fa's for wr and experiment with moving tait ove to tackle again. move m columbo to guard

m williams has no deeep threat speed and the bears need is a speedy wr

depending if fergunson comes out is the only point in the trading done theory

if not trade down and pick up j brown from oklo

get a extra 2 and 3 rounder.

i would look at thorpe wr out of fsu for one of the extra pick and here is a sleeper, how bout a kicker - nugent out of osu the best kicker in the nation as an extra pick, pickup..
