A couple days back I read this story: http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-kidfire25.html on an internet message board, and wanted to know if at all possible I could replace this kids picture of Frank Thomas, and if you or someone who knows details on this family could get me in touch with their family...it would be greatfully appreciated. I wanted to share some of my wealth during the holidays. Sincerely, Ross Meister, 16, Downers Grove, IL So I'm going to send this family some Thomas memorabilia because I feel for this poor kid. Maybe we could work on a donation some how here at soxtalk.com Just feel like giving back to make it better for the less fortunate.
January 17, 200521 yr That's pretty classy of you Beastly. The link in your orignal e-mail is unavailable. Just curious, what was the story behind it?
January 17, 200521 yr Author It was in an older thread...but basically they were talking about what the White Sox organization was doing for the communities on the holidays. There was a kid who has an illness and had his Frank Thomas picture burned in a house fire.

January 18, 200521 yr Ross...mega props go out to ya. And idea I have and am going to throw around eventually is setting up some sort of charity auction with help from the White Sox or something. But I figure I'll have to wait till the site grows a bit more, but its an idea I have in my head and will do at some point.

I started that thread and at the time, kind'a thought your offer might have been grandstanding but you really came through. The world is a better place because of you. I thought about donating my Magglio Ordonez autographed Sox hat but was afraid the kid would torch it and burn the new house down.
January 18, 200521 yr Hey Ross, if you are interested in any other stuff, I have tons of stuff from Soxfests over the years. I would be more than willing to send it to this family. Great idea BTW. And really you should have introduced yourself.

Yes I guess I should have, I'll see you at a game or two...it was kind of funny because I was shopping where you were shopping and you were looking at this sweater and u looked kind of clueless of what you wanted to get. Anywho, I got a jersey, and on the back is going a huge Thomas 35..
