What about Oprah?

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jan 20, 2005 -> 11:11 AM)
I have tried to breakdown those pseudo celebrities in the Chicago area and I think I can determine which baseball team in town they root for.

CUBS

Barry Rozner (Daily Herald columnist)

Yeah, he grew up going to Comiskey, working as a vendor because he was a Cubs fan. :rolly

I know that guy who did "A Christmas Story" was a big Sox fan.  Jean Shepherd was his name. He even hosted a video history on them.  He died years ago.

Yeah, he was from NW Indiana.

Speaking of long-dead people, I picked up this neat little factlet recently - I learned in a Muddy Waters documentary that he was a big Sox fan.

I heard that Barack Obama is a Sox fan

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jan 20, 2005 -> 05:16 PM)
I'm pretty sure that he's a Flubs fan.

Rogers seems like a pro-Sox, pro-Cubs guy -- a Chicago guy. I'm not really fond of when he brings up certain rumors, but I definitely like his analysis. He seems to be pretty objective in most of his columns, I for one am a fan of his.

QUOTE(BlizzardOfOzzie @ Jan 20, 2005 -> 11:02 PM)
Come on!  Jay Mariotti, Rick Telander, and all of those sports writers are NOT fans of either team.  If they are, it's anyone's guess.

Not sure about the others, but Mariotti grew up and is from Philadelphia.  Why would he give two s***s about either team, or any Chicago team for that matter?  His job is to be objective and provide viewpoints as he sees things without bias.  I love reading his column every day.  He tells things like it is and if it pisses people off, f*** 'em.  He doesn't need to give a s***.  I don't like when he disses the Sox, but he's just telling it like he sees it.  So what?  It doesn't influence whether I love the Sox or not.

Besides, I'm also a life-long, die-hard Packer fan and I LOVE his columns about the Bears.  Pure reading enjoyment for me.

f*** the Packers, and f*** Jay Mariotti.

Mariotti knows jack s*** about everything and anything he writes about. He knows nothing about hockey, yet writes about it today in his column. He's a f***ing moron, a stooge. It will be a glorious day when he's no longer in this damn city...

Damn I bet it felt good to get that one out.

Only Mariotti should deserve words as harsh as those.

:headbang

You can't expect columnists to not have feelings for teams. If the Tribune hired you tomorrow, your reporting better be objective-but you wouldn't become a robot all of the sudden. I'm sure over time, love for particular teams evaportaes though as you are in the business.

You're all wrong. Rogers is just a good objective reporter. He's not a fan of either team, per se. In fact, I believe I read somewhere he grew up a Ranger's fan.

Phil lives not far from me, I have met him, he is from Texas. I think you're correct, he was a Rangers fan from way back. Very nice guy, roots for both Chicago teams.

LOL. Al Capone was, quite famously, a Cub fan.

:bang

Al Capone...

Figures.

Capone buried the guy right under the stadium, didn't he?

If Liberace and Barry Manilow are Sox fans I'll just shoot myself right now.

I read an article where the guy who wrote "The Prince of Tides", Pat Conroy is also a Sox fan.

This is an obscure one, but the TV play-by-play man for the Los Angeles Kings, Bob Miller (Who is one of the best in the business) is a big Sox fan. I live in LA and see him from time to time @ Kings games. Not this year of course.

Not true. He was Sox fan. He named one of his kids Minoso after Minnie.

Glad to hear Jerry Reinsdorf is a Sox fan. :D

I'd like confirmation on Einstein and Hugh Heffner being in the fold, because that alone would probably mean that Sox fans, on average, are smarter and get more action than Cubs fans. :P

This made my day. :cheers :headbang :notworthy

Don't suppose you remember anything about the video history, do you? (Title, year, anything like that.)

Kanye West is a sox fan

I believe Twista is too
