gotoh00
Just got a fresh quote from Iguchi saying he plans to hit .300 and steal 30 bases, at least. He's going to get into training at the end of the month and practice everyday until the earliest possible time he can enter Tuscon. Sounds like he really means business. DonkeyKongerko
Iguchi visits America to White Sox and a formal contract this evening. He visits America by way of Narita so that infielder Tadahito Iguchi (30) from whom the joining to White Sox becomes certain may make a formal contract on the evening of the 26th. Iguchi returns from Okinawa where the voluntary training was done to Fukuoka on the morning of the same day. "Team is where tradition exists. I think that the preparation for reception is steady." The joining talked about now is a frame of mind of having become a countdown stage. "I want to raise the evaluation of Japanese infielders for people in the future. I want to aim at a .300 batting average and 30 stolen bases,"he spoke of his aspiration powerfully. If the joining is decided, he becomes the second Japanese major-league infielder following Kaz Matsui (29) of the Mets. Gave it a try with Excite Japan and cleaned it up a bit. I wish I had more opportunities to practice Japanese.

DBAHO
Damn if only he spoke Chinese instead then I could do a little translating, oh well. Thanks for the info gotoh00, proving to be a good source on anything Iguchi in the past few days. It's good to see that he's confident and wants to perform well, I just hope he doesn't put too much pressure on himself to perform if he's struggling early, which is probably going to happen. This is the 2nd .300 prediction I've seen today, the other one coming from Aaron Gleemen, esteemed Twins Blogger. The potential is certainly there for him to do that, whether or not it happens, that remains to be seen.
beck72
I like the part about wanting to do well so other Japanese players could have MLB opportunities. Means he's going to work his butt off not just for himself, but for his countrymen. That's some damn strong motivation. And shows some character.
