Central Fla. Officer Charged With Posing As Officer

A law enforcement officer in Central Florida was jailed Tuesday on a charge of posing as a law enforcement officer, according to WKMG-TV in Orlando.

The Eatonville police officer was reportedly jailed following a Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigation, WKMG-TV reported.

Investigators said Steven Allen Hill posed as a state attorney investigator in order to extort money to pay off a friend's debt.

Hill is charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer and extortion.

:bang

I like how it keeps saying "Officer posing as officer." Great writing.

It’s YOU! You’re an idiot to think this only happens in Florida

Talk about necro posting...

Me thinks California leads the world in weird stories

I always wondered if you got held up on the street or carjacked in your driveway, could you impersonate an officer and say: "Police ... freeze ... I've been waiting for a moment like this to arrest one of you!" Or is that illegal.

Laws vary by state, but I doubt it’s illegal in that particular instance.

Sure sounds like a good way to get shot though.

I always wondered if u could develop a plan when carjacked. I really don't want to give up my vehicle. Cause one gets stolen, you go through all the hassle of getting a new one and boom it happens again. You've got to have a plan in my mind and sometimes I was thinking if you say you are a cop they might run.

Or they might immediately panic and shoot you.

The plan is simple, pull your weapon if you don't want the hassle of an insurance claim. https://a.co/d/fsyGHAy here's a mount that works well in many cars.

I'm going to exit the vehicle and file the claim but you do you.

Then you have health insurance claims to deal with. You just can't win.
