February 10, 200521 yr This comes under the guise of proofread your articles The project's chief architect says the design currently calls for a spire that will make the building 13,060 feet tall. http://www.nbc5.com/news/4184303/detail.ht...994&dppid=65192 By my calculations that should make the building 12,815 feet tall. Petronas Towers take that!!!
February 10, 200521 yr QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 11:26 AM) That pointy thing that stick out of the top of churches. I thought that's a steeple.
February 10, 200521 yr steeple=spire Spires tend to be the names of the larger buildings' pointy things.
February 10, 200521 yr QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 11:40 AM) steeple=spire Spires tend to be the names of the larger buildings' pointy things. OK. In that case, I agree with Trump. They're ugly.

February 10, 200521 yr Author QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 11:13 AM) So, would Chicago have the world's tallest buiding again? More importantly, when do we get the casinos?? Just for perspectives sake, the Sears Tower measures in at 1450 feet tall...
February 10, 200521 yr QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 11:13 AM) So, would Chicago have the world's tallest buiding again? Pretty sure that with the spire this makes it the 2nd tallest in the city, about a 100 ft. behind the Sears.

During the fire at the Lasalle Bank building she claimed "This is the worst fire Chicago has ever seen."
February 10, 200521 yr QUOTE(shakes @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 07:50 PM) Someone's getting yelled at today. If they figure it out. I can't remember the name of the anchor woman, but it was also channel 5. During the fire at the Lasalle Bank building she claimed "This is the worst fire Chicago has ever seen." That's one helluva building...wouldn't be able to see the spire at 13,000 feet anyway. It's a good thing Meigs isn't there anymore or we'd see lot's of crashes. as for the anchorwoman, as a friend and former channel 2 reporter and anchor once told me...there are reporters and there are newsreaders. This stupid Channel 5 anchor is a news reader. All looks, no brain.

During the fire at the Lasalle Bank building she claimed "This is the worst fire Chicago has ever seen." Maybe she meant to say "the worst fire Chicago has ever seen that didn't involve a cow".... TV newsreaders.....HA....
February 11, 200521 yr QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 10:15 AM) By my calculations that should make the building 12,815 feet tall. Petronas Towers take that!!! Man that is one spacious building. It's 12,815 feet tall with 92 stories. That 139 feet PER story. Talk about spacious.
February 11, 200521 yr QUOTE(shakes @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 01:50 PM) During the fire at the Lasalle Bank building she claimed "This is the worst fire Chicago has ever seen." I was at school the day after that fire and a friend of mine told me she heard that on the news. I just stopped in my tracks and went "excuse me?"
February 11, 200521 yr QUOTE(TheDybber @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 02:55 PM) as for the anchorwoman, as a friend and former channel 2 reporter and anchor once told me...there are reporters and there are newsreaders. February 11, 200521 yr I'm assuming that's the one Chicago's own Bill Ransic was in charge of for a year. Man the rooms in there looked sweet as well. Definitely on my "To Buy" list, if I ever work in Chicago with a big fat corporate salary someday.
