Man this movie is going to be awesome... whats the exact release date? I think I missed it if it was posted in here

I'm pretty sure it is May 19th and that trailer was one of the best I have seen. If the movie lives up to the trailer it should be something special.

Did anyone see 60 minutes on sunday? Lucas said the battle between Anakin and Obi-Wan takes place in 'hell'. Maybe Obi-Wan f***s him up good, hence Anakin needs his new 'Darth' suit. Can't wait to find out. This is one of the few movies I rush to the theater for.

SPOILER alert

Obi-wan defeats Anakin during a lightsaber battle and Anakin falls into a pit of lava on the Volcanic planet of Mustafar where Anakin has wiped out the Trade Federation prior to Obi-wan's arrival. The injuries from the lightsaber and burns from the lava necessitate Anakin to wear the Darth Vader life support suit.

So based on what you know, do you think this will be a good movie?

Should definitely be the best of the 3 prequels. If you liked the dark undertone of "The Empire Strikes Back", this one should be even darker. So much happens in this movie that is dark and sinister that I don't want to ruin it for you. But, if Lucas does it right, you should leave the theatre somewhat disturbed by what you just saw..... if you are a fan of the Star Wars franchise.

Yup, it is on the 19th. The first one was released on May 19th (though the wide release was on May 25th), ESB was on May 21st, ROTJ was May 25th, TPM was May 19th, AOTC was May 16th, and now we are back to May 19th.

Why do I know this? I was born in 1970, so I was the right age to be REALLY into the fact that my birthday was May 19th. Though my birthday on May 19th, 1977 was spent in the movie theater, it was watching Close Encounters, Star Wars was a short little while after that day. It had not made it to us yet, and had yet to become the minor hit it would become a few weeks later.

Although, I worry about the guy who plays Anakin/Darth.  He was not a good actor in the last one.

Understatement of the year. Even if the rest of it were better, he would have singlehandedly ruined that movie.

The last one was such a huge disappointment, I'm not concerned about seeing 3 any time soon.

Well, over on Mobius Home Video Forum, a site that can be trusted for pretty much anything mentioned due to the amazing film minds on it, one of the posters posted this about the new film:

1.) Much better acting, from all accounts. Due to the fact that this time there's actually some really great moments for the actors to shine.

2.) If you like lightsaber battles, then this is for you. And I, as well .

3.) How evil is the Emperor? Wow..yeah, pretty mean.

4.) Christopher Lee may not have a large part, but his screentime is incredible.

5.) Everything seems much tighter and focused this time. It appears that shooting the final theatrical Star Wars story has given Lucas some much needed energy.

7.) This may reenforce the old adage of it's not what you tell, but how you tell it. Yes, we all know the outcome, but seeing the tragic events that occur makes it much more emotionally involving. There's a lot more emotion and real feeling here then what's happened in the first two chapters.

7.) You thought RETURN OF THE JEDI had a great space battle? Just wait till REVENGE OF THE SITH.

8.) CHEWBACCA!!!!!

It's still STAR WARS, of course. So we're not talking David Mamet, here. But it just all looks to be utterly fantastic. I shall definitely be cohosting a major STAR WARS party and group viewing when it opens. I think this may be the most succesful of all of the prequels, and the one that may do the repeat business that the first trilogy did when they opened.

This was in response to somebody asking how this film could possibly be any good. I am not sure how the poster knows what he knows, or how he has seen it, but you can believe what he says. He is a very reputable poster on the site, and is "in the business" I do believe.

I had no idea Bruce Spence was in this one either! Bruce was the Chopper pilot in The Road Warrior and the similar character in Beyond Thunderdome, and he was one of the main Strangers in Dark City. Bruce rules, and I just found out about his character in the new film, and here is a picture of it:
