Notes: Garcia's velocity has returned

Notes: Garcia's velocity has returned

Right-hander will not be overused as in the past

While his spring ERA of 6.41 doesn't seem to instill a great deal of confidence, Garcia brushed off the Arizona numbers. He pointed to Cactus League play simply as a time to work on his craft.

His fastball has regained the missing velocity, with Garcia throwing consistently at 92 to 94 mph. He's also eager to pitch in front of what he perceives to be a better infield defense and a stronger team.

Thats good news. Looking forward to Wednesdays game.

I hope so. Garcia's fastball will look real fast when pitching in between MB and El Duque.

I think Contreras is pitching 3rd. Or did you mean that MB and Count will always enclose Freddy's start in some way?

Yeah, IIRC Ozzie is saving El Duque for the opener of the Twins series.

I'm sure Freddy will be hoping to take the next step this year, and to do that, he's going to have to pitch better at home and not give up as many home runs. We need him to win 15 games or more to contend in this division.

Go gettem Freddy!!!

I think we'll match up pretty well against the Twins this weekend pitching wise.

Should be:

Friday: El Duque vs. Lohse

Saturday: Garland vs. Mays

Sunday: Buehrle vs. Radke

Yeah, that does look good.

Anyone know why Santana wasn't pitching yesterday??? I thought he was their ace.

I heard it was because they wanted Santana to start the Home Opener, but I may be wrong.

The home opener is Friday, so that is not possible.
