Jabroni
Lefties hit .215 off shingo last year. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And what was his ERA against them?
Capn12
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 12:42 AM) It wasn't a one run game, it was a 2 run game, meaning in that situation a single and a homer do the same thing. Point being, Takatsu has proven that he CANNOT get lefties out with any consistency. Just what The Cheat is saying, I cringe when Takatsu is on teh mound vs. a lefty with any considerable power. jphat007
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 10:48 PM) And what was his ERA against them? Shingo had a .696 OPS against last year against lefties which ranked 3rd on the team among regulars with only Damaso and SS ahead of him. And at this time last year, he had 1 less ER given up in about 1 less inning. Lets give him time.

Just what The Cheat is saying, I cringe when Takatsu is on teh mound vs. a lefty with any considerable power. Shingo got lefties out consistently last year. See above post for stats. So far this year, righties are hitting better than lefties against him. About the same as he was doing at this time last year. Let's please give him time. Capn12
Oh I'm definately not one that is saying "Make Hermanson our closer!" at all. Shinjo is still my closer on this team. But I think he should be given a bit shorter leash at the moment, till its evident that he is using the pitches at his command to get guys out. A la quit throwing that GD 85 mph fastball, it isnt gonna fool anyone without them seeing teh frisbee mixed in there. Shinjo is still my man. I agree with the shorter leash comment, and I believe you'll be seeing that for a while. I don't think Shingo would have pitched to Mauer in a one run game and any further sign of trouble, he would have been pulled.
