Greasy, they're just all really scuffling right now, I think they've proved on this road trip that they can win without the homer.  Obviously people aren't going to be happy right now but the mood around here will change once we win the next two.

We were playing Kansas City though. Two of those games we had no business winning at all. We really need a win tomorrow to get some momentum back. I saw absolutely no enthusiasm from the team tonight.

Hit and runs turn double play balls into RISP 1 out or sometimes 1st and 3rd nobody out. Why don't we do it any more?

Ozzie is managing this offense like the 2004 Sox.

We definitely could've bunted a couple times tonight, or used the hit and run.  We had the 1st guy on, 8 of the 11 innings.  That's a perfect time to try to move someone over to get something, anything going.

You're preaching to the choir, I'd love to see more hit and runs, I'd like guys to be bunted over more but like I said I have complete faith in this team and in this offense. Whatever, I no am going to be alone on this one but we'll have to take a wait and see approach.

I really should just relax. I'm overjoyed when the White Sox win, but I'm in a terrible mood when the Sox lose and it's that way until they start to play again.

Corpseball lives on

What the motherf***?!

Two things:

- I'm so sick of typing the word hit and run this week.

- Did the hot start get our expectations too high? My girlfriend, who isn't exactly a baseball expert, brought that up after this game. Look at our roster right now....and do you really think that's a superior team?

Oh I agree. You know how I am from last season, and what not; I'm definitely not one to give up on a team quickly. These guys have the capabilities to score some runs, no question about it.

It's just frustrating; it seems the Sox never can have both at the same time. Right now, the pitching is doing a damn good job. Last year, it'd seem the pitching was okay, and the offense had to bail it out so many times.

You don't have to explain that to me, I'm exactly that way but I've learned to keep things in perspective more then I used to. I've believed in this team since day 1, I think they're a great team, they're going to be in it all year and have a great shot to win this division or get in via the wildcard, no doubt in my mind. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if they could get in the playoffs and then advance, this is a very good baseball team. They'll be absolutely fine.

My opinion is that our offense is not quite as bad tonight but is too close to this. In fact, I think it's weak enough that we not only need Frank back but will need a bat at the deadline. THis offense cannot win in the playoffs.

Yes.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 10:19 PM)
I'm most concerned about a lack of hitting the ball hard.  Of our last 6 games, we have about 5 hard hit balls.

Thats because we have stopped hitting with level swings.

Last year Greg Walker and Carlos Lee changed his swing mid season to turn him into a power hitter. He started hitting for power, but fell in love with it. He stopped any attempt as situational hitting. It was all or nothing. The only thing that kept his BA afloat was his talent.

Now we have Konerko changing his swing. Now his hands are high up and he is golfing his swing.

Dye is swinging the same way. The hands are high.

I hear Greg Walker saying the right things. But the product on the field over the last couple of hitting instructors is the same thing. Everyone pulls the baseball and trys to hit homeruns in the wrong situation. And its everyone, from the scrawniest weakest player to our thumpers. This happens every single time a soft tosser comes up, we become a softball team. Trying to hit it as hard as we can.

Arow has a nice short swing. Iguchi has a nice short swing. That is pretty much about it for the lineup. Pods is trying to get lift. After this season, move the f***ing fence back. The "home run park" is creating a monster. Every hitter gets up to the plate and looks the same way. They look down the line and think why not me. Do you know why they dont do this with better pitchers. Because they are thinking of making contact on those guys. They dont worry about how far to hit it, but to make contact.

This is bulls*** plain and simple. Our expectations are NOT too high. When you have the chance to score, and don't, 8 times, you kill yourself. We should have won this game in the 1st inning, not the 9th, not the 11th. Horrible execution = garbageness. I am SUPER pissed right now. Bulls***. We should be on a 9 game winning streak, not a 3 game losing streak.

I want to see Gload play tomorrow for someone. At least he seems like he can hit a liner once every 10 plate appearances.

For those that were in chat tonight..........

We've been in every game. They've all been winnable. Yeah, I think we can be one of the top teams this year. And no, I'm not expecting us to win every game. Losing streaks happen too. Do you really think we're not a superior team?

the frustrating thing is that I was so impressed with Willie a few weeks ago in Minnesota when he appeared to be a cut and slash hitter that could hit ones down the line and through the hole. Then he reverted back to that garbage tonight. Might our guys be having a lesser scale Petco problem where the ball is clearly not carrying AS much but are still trying to jack them out?

what the hell is a superior team?

After this season, move the f***ing fence back

Don't do that, but I sure wish everybody would swing like

Iggy.

Yes, but our expectations also are high right now because our pitchers are pitching way over their heads right now. Contreras and El Duque have been the pitching version of L. Ford this season. All I know is we need to create more offense. Ozzie actually put some runners in motion in the debacle on Tuesday night, and it opened up holes and we had some nice scoring innings because of it.

A team that makes other teams feel inferior.

Yeah I've started to put things into perspective also. It's just a loss, we'll lost at least 2 full months worth of games, so it's gonna happen.

In my book, a superior team is a threat to win the World Series.

I think the only superior teams in baseball are the Cardinals and Red Sox and everyone else is not in a position to say that

My feeling is this: We could realistically be 20-3 this season.....or 9-14. If we continue to only get enough hitting to win each game by one run, it's going to catch up to us this season. How many times this year did we make comments after the game about how lucky we got? Yet, the last three games, we've been the one "creating" luck for the opposition. I felt like we were the luckiest team in the world after those Twins games when they left a 3rd world country on the bases, as well as two of those KC games.
